Light Heavyweight fighter Keith Jardine

For those of you that claimed there was no point in watching tonight’s “Strikeforce Challengers 15” event, Showtime announced during Friday’s broadcast former UFC star Keith Jardine has agreed to serve as a last-minute replacement to face Gegard Mousasi next Saturday at “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley.”

Mousasi was slated to meet Mike Kyle, but the American Kickboxing Academy trained fighter pulled out yesterday with an injury.

Although Kyle was coming off a loss, Strikeforce suggested the winner would advance to challenge Dan Henderson for his 205-pound title. Kyle had won his four fights prior to his loss to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.

Mousasi has won two consecutive fights since losing the Strikeforce belt to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal last August. Speaking of back-to-back victories, Jardine is perfect in his last two outings. However, the light heavyweight dropped five straight prior to his turnaround.

“Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” takes place April 9th inside the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. Showtime will broadcast the main bouts beginning at 11PM ET/PT.
Here is the card’s revised roster:

Preliminary Bouts:

Saad Awad vs. Joe Duarte
Casey Ryan vs. Paul Song
Edgar Cardenas vs. Rolando Perez
Takaya Hiroyuki vs. Robert Peralta

Main Bouts:

Shinya Aoki vs. Lyle Beerbohm
Gegard Mousasi vs. Keith Jardine
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Gilbert Melendez (Strikeforce Lightweight Champion)
Paul Daley vs. Nick Diaz (Strikeforce Welterweight Champion)
