The UFC’s summer card on FOX television is quickly taking shape with the announcement of two additional bouts to the August 4th event in Los Angeles.
UFC officials confirmed that Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader will square off in a light heavyweight bout while Ben Rothwell will meet Travis Browne in a heavyweight tilt.
Bader (14-2) has rebounded from a two fight skid to post back to back victories. He made short work of Jason Brilz at UFC 139 then recorded a unanimous decision victory over former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 144. Machida (17-3) finds himself in need of a win after dropping three of his past four bouts against top competition. He last competed at UFC 140 where he was submitted by Jon Jones in the second round of their title bout.
The undefeated Browne (13-0-1) and the veteran Rothwell (32-8) are coming off impressive performances at UFC 145. Browne submitted newcomer Chad Griggs in the first round to earn “Submission of the Night” honors. Not to be outdone, Rothwell claimed “Knockout of the Night” when he needed just 70 seconds to take out Brendan Schaub.

There is something fascinating to me about the downward spiral of Lyoto Machida. Did the MMA world suddenly figure him out, did he get complacent, or is he just burnt out of karate? I have a feeling we will find that answer out by the time his next fight is over. Related posts:
