By Jacob Camargo September 13, 2009A potentially explosive featherweight bout between TUF 5 runner-up Manny Gamburyan and Team Jackson's Leonard Garcia is in the works for WEC 44 in Nov. News of the bout was first reported by Sherdog.com.
Gamburyan (9-4) is coming off of a successful WEC debut, as he defeated John Franchi at WEC 41 in June. He decided to make the long-awaited move to the featherweight division and compete in the WEC following back-to-back losses in the UFC against Rob Emerson and Thiago Tavares. Gamburyan exited the UFC with a sub-par record of 2-3 with the promotion, with wins over Jeff Cox, Nate Mohr, and a loss against Nate Diaz due to a shoulder injury in his debut at the Ultimate Fighter season 5 finale.
Gamburyan has been competing professionally off and on for 10 years, fighting for such promotions as Kage Kombat and King of the Cage. He has finished seven of his nine career wins, and holds notable wins over the likes of Sam Morgan and c...
