Manny Gamburyan vs. Leonard Garcia possible for WEC 44

By Jacob Camargo September 13, 2009A potentially explosive featherweight bout between TUF 5 runner-up Manny Gamburyan and Team Jackson's Leonard Garcia is in the works for WEC 44 in Nov. News of the bout was first reported by Sherdog.com. Gamburyan (9-4) is coming off of a successful WEC debut, as he defeated John Franchi at WEC 41 in June. He decided to make the long-awaited move to the featherweight division and compete in the WEC following back-to-back losses in the UFC against Rob Emerson and Thiago Tavares. Gamburyan exited the UFC with a sub-par record of 2-3 with the promotion, with wins over Jeff Cox,  Nate Mohr, and a loss against Nate Diaz due to a shoulder injury in his debut at the Ultimate Fighter season 5 finale. Gamburyan has been competing professionally off and on for 10 years, fighting for such promotions as Kage Kombat and King of the Cage.
