As the rumor mill had anticipated, the middleweight brawl between Michael Bisping (Pictured) and Tim Boetsch has been relocated to UFC 149. “The Count” confirmed his revised agenda on his Twitter account Thursday morning.
“My bout has been moved to [UFC 149] in Calgary. My apologies to those who bought tickets to come see me get my ass kicked,” Bisping tweeted just moments ago.
The 185-pounders were originally scheduled to appear in UFC 148′s blockbuster lineup. Although a reason for the bout’s transition to Canada was not mentioned, it’s believed the July 7th roster was far too star-studded and the event’s followup pay-per-view broadcast needed additional sizzle.
Bisping is looking to rebound from a decision loss to Chael Sonnen at “UFC on FOX 2.” The January defeat snapped the Brit’s four-fight winning streak.
Boetsch has posted a perfect 3-0 mark since dropping to the 185-pound division. “The Barbarian” is fresh off a spectacular comeback victory over former top contender Yushin Okami at UFC 144.
Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada hosts the July 21st festivities. A featherweight title tilt between champion Jose Aldo and Erik Koch headline the extravaganza.
Here is the show’s updated agenda:
Mitch Clarke vs. Anton Kuivanen
George Roop vs. Antonio Carvalho
Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon
Ryan Jimmo vs. Anthony Perosh
Court McGee vs. Nick Ring
Jon Fitch vs. Aaron Simpson
Thiago Alves vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cheick Kongo
Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Thiago Silva
Erik Koch vs. Jose Aldo (UFC Featherweight Champion)
