According to MMAJunkie, Mike Kyle (Pictured) has suffered an undisclosed injury that will force the slugger out of his light heavyweight shootout against Gegard Mousasi.
With less than 20 days remaining until showtime, it is unknown whether Strikeforce officials will scour the globe for a replacement or scrap the 205-pound affair altogether.
If no substitute is sought, the lightweight contest between K.J. Noons and Josh Thomson would likely get promoted to “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey’s” new co-main event.
This marks the second time the injury bug has forced Kyle to withdraw from a fight against Mousasi. The 205-pounders were initially slated to meet this past April at “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” before Kyle bowed out with a broken hand.
Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio will host the March 3rd festivities.
Showtime Extreme broadcasts the preliminary fights at 8PM ET/PT. Showtime will air the main bouts at 10PM ET/PT.
