Former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, who quickly established himself as the UFC 170-pound number one contender upon his Octagon return in 2011, tested positive for marijuana following his UFC 143 loss to current interim Welterweight Champ Carlos Condit back on Feb. 4 in Las Vegas.
This will be Diaz' second failed drug test for Marijuana. Diaz tested positive for marijuana after his surprising and incredible win over PRIDE FC 160-pound champion Takanori Gomi at Pride 33 back on Feb. 24, 2007. The win was quickly overturned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) and Diaz was suspended for six months. Because of that suspension, Diaz was unable to secure a corner’s license for his brother Nate’s fight against Manny Gamburyan at The Ultimate Fighter Finale 5.
Diaz also failed to show up to 2 pre-fight drug tests in 2009 for his fight with challenger Jay Hieron. That fight was cancelled because of his failure to show up.

Diaz fails drug test, facing suspension
The head of the Nevada Athletic Commission says UFC welterweight Nick Diaz tested positive for marijuana after his recent loss to Carlos Condit and faces disciplinary action, including a possible suspension and fine.
