Before Muhammad Lawal called Strikeforce a ‘cancer patient,’ before Scott Coker and Dana White inexplicably held that news conference where it was insisted Strikeforce could be kept as a top tier league, Strikeforce seemed to be doing pretty well.  They signed Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson.  Strong champions were present in Gilbert Melendez, Nick Diaz, and Alistair Overeem.  Jake Shields and Gegard Mousasi were dual weight class threats and Strikeforce had up-and-comers like Brett Rogers, Ronaldo Souza, Lawal, and more.  A TV deal with CBS meant that MMA was going to be semi-regularly on network TV.
