This Saturday the UFC returns to Sweden for the second time for another installment of The UFC on Fuel TV series. However, less than a week out from fight night the main event fell prey to the dreaded injury bug when Alexander Gustafsson did not receive clearance from the Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation to compete due to a cut above his left eye. The UFC certainly isn’t happy about the change as they have now lost their biggest draw on the card, not to mention the home town superstar.
Gustafsson is certainly upset, as this was to be his showcase bout, with a win likely setting him up for a shot at the light heavyweight title. “It’s been terrible,” Gustafsson said in an interview when discussing the cut, “It’s been the worst time in my life so far in my career, I can tell you that. I lost once in my career, but this is even worse.
