PLAYERS: Rampage Jackson
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (pictured) has found a new home. According to MMAFighting, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has inked an exclusive deal to join Bellator MMA. The report states Rampage’s contract with the Viacom-owned promotion will allow him to dabble in TNA Impact Wrestling, a la Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. Rampage essentially completed his contractual obligations with the UFC following January’s unanimous decision defeat to Glover Teixeira. Although there was some fine print at the bottom of Rampage’s contract that allowed the UFC to match any offer that comes across his table, the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion opted to part ways because of the disrespectful comments he made leading up to his final Octagon fights. His three-fight losing skid certainly didn’t make him a top free agent priority, either. Rampage teased fans late Monday night with a comeback by tweeting, “It’s gonna feel good putting this chain back on… Big news coming real soon.” The controversial slugger owns a 32-11 professional record. He went just 7-5 under the UFC’s watch.
