Ricardo Arona was a perennial contender at 205 pounds who basically dropped off the MMA map- he was in talks with Dana White and the UFC, and was seen at a couple of UFC events. However, he never signed with the UFC and hasn’t fought since 2009 in a win over Marvin Eastman. Prior to that, his last fight was in Pride. Arona was publicly seen at events like UFC 114, where he, along with Lyoto Machida and Jose Aldo gave a prediction on Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans: Over his career, Arona beat opponents like Jeremy Horn, Guy Mezger, Dan Henderson, Murilo Rua, Dean Lister, Kazushi Sakuraba, Wanderlei Silva, Alistair Overeem, and many more. He also hung in there with Fedor Emelianenko way back in the day. If he’s healthy, he’s a solid vet who should be able to add something to the LHW division.
