Not only did Gegard Mousasi enter Saturday’s fight against Ilir Latifi with a knee so busted up he’ll require surgery within the coming days, but Ross Pearson may have posted a TKO victory over Ryan Couture with a broken foot – one he suffered just minutes before taking center stage. “I think I broke my foot in the back warming up,” Pearson shared during his post-fight in-cage interview. “The very first kick I threw hit the pad and then hit coach Eric Del Fierro’s elbow, and I was like, ‘Oh, what kind of night is this going to be?’” That was the last time fans heard from the Brit on Saturday, as “The Real Deal” was taken to the hospital immediately after blasting Couture in the night’s co-featured attraction. “Ross thinks he broke his foot warming up, so he’s at the hospital right now getting his foot checked out,” UFC president Dana White stated. “He breaks his foot in the back, doesn’t tell anybody, goes out and fights and ends up knocking out Ryan Couture, which K.J. Noons hit him with some big shots in that last fight and didn’t knock him out. So, much respect and props to him.” Much like with Mousasi, White couldn’t stop singing Pearson’s praises. White believes they are both true fighters and showmen, living by the show-must-go-on mantra. “He fought a great fight tonight,” White added of Pearson. “He was chasing him around, and he was trying to cut off the ring. Now, especially that I know he had a broken foot, trying to cut off the ring, getting out of the clinch and battling it and then finally caught him. And like I said, Ryan Couture has an awesome chin.” Pearson has won both of his scraps since moving back up to the lightweight division. He now stakes claim to a 15-6 professional record.
