Japan’s World Victory Road promotion has lost its main sponsor following negative media coverage and has announced the likely end of its Sengoku events unless another sponsor can be found.

“Our only hope is to find another sponsor to replace Don Quijote,” the statement read. “If there is no company that helps us, we have to think about the worst-case scenario: the end of [Sengoku].”

Talk of Sengoku’s end intensified in recent weeks, as the promotion failed to announced its next event following “Soul of Fight” on Dec. 30 and released many of its top stars, including middleweight champion Jorge Santiago and heavyweight Dave Herman, who have both signed with the UFC.

Fellow Japanese promotion DREAM has also failed to announced any events for 2011 following “Dynamite!! 2010″ on New Year’s Eve.

Pancrase and Shooto are also rumored to be facing problems of their own and were forced to cancel events scheduled for this weekend following the massive earthquake and tsunami in their home country.
