Many athletes have attempted a career in Hollywood, and now former MMA fighter Gina Carano is taking her turn on the silver screen. Her new movie, Haywire, opened on Jan. 23 and has received decent reviews since then, getting an 81 percent rating from RottenTomatoes.com. It also earned $9 million at the weekend box office, good for fifth place on that weekend's earnings list...

I'll admit that when Ronda Rousey burst onto the MMA scene I was more than a bit skeptical. Women's MMA needed a face that could captivate the casual observer and with Gina Carano acting instead of fighting it seemed that people were a little too eager to anoite Rousey as the next big thing. But, going undefeated by landing sick armbar after sick armbar goes a long way...
