An injured has forced Yoshihiro Akiyama out of his scheduled welterweight clash with Thiago Alves at UFC 149. UFC officials announced that Siyar Bahadurzada will step in to replace Akiyama on the July 21st card.
Bahadurzada (21-4-1) is coming off an impressive promotional debut in which he needed just 42 seconds to knockout Paulo Thiago at UFC on FUEL TV 2. With the win Bahadurzada has now won seven consecutive bouts. The veteran Alves (19-9) will look to rebound from a tough loss to Martin Kampmann in the main event of UFC on FX 2 in March.
UFC 149 which takes place from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Erik Koch.
