Stephan Bonnar (Pictured) has officially retired from mixed martial arts, but it appears the Octagon icon may have committed post-career suicide by flunking his UFC 153 drug test.
It’s like a mischievous child who knows he’s upset his parent and asks if they are mad at him for his bad behavior. Instead of replying with ‘Yes,’ the parent instead says they’re ‘disappointed,’ which everyone knows stings 1,000 times worse.
That’s the predicament Bonnar is currently in with UFC president Dana White.
“It sucks,” White said of Bonnar’s failed drug screening. “I think the thing that bums me out the most about the Stephan Bonnar thing is he didn’t tell me. I offered you this fight. He wasn’t planning on fighting. He said he was practicing to maybe do some pro wrestling, and doing this stuff, whatever the excuse is.
“I’ve known Stephan for a long time, we have a great relationship – tell me. That’s the thing that disappoints me the most.”
After losing last month to Anderson Silva, Bonnar registered positive for the anabolic steroid Drostanolone. It was the second time he was caught using a banned substance under the promotion’s watch. The 35-year-old also tested positive for Boldenone following his unanimous decision defeat to Forrest Griffin at UFC 62.
Bonnar and Griffin essentially assured themselves of lifetime employment with the UFC following their groundbreaking performances in “The Ultimate Fighter 1″ finals. Bonnar has already planted his post-fighting career seed by serving as a commentator for the now-defunct WEC and as an analyst during UFC on FOX broadcasts.
White is unsure whether Bonnar’s latest blip would affect his future behind the mic.
“I haven’t even answered his phone call. I haven’t talked to him since. I don’t hate him, I just don’t want to talk to him right now.”

Over the weekend, UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo (Pictured) wanted to spotlight the subtle, yet significant, difference between turning down fights and refusing to compete on last-second’s notice, and that’s why the veteran declined a December 15th tango against Roy Nelson.
“I did NOT REFUSE to FIGHT Roy Nelson. I REFUSED to TAKE A FIGHT on SHORT NOTICE. Which is NOT THE SAME...
