Hard for the Yard:
Last night Jake Rosholt made his WEC debut against Nissen Osterneck, winning via strikes in the second round when the referee stopped the fight because Osterneck couldn't improve his position or defend himself.
Rosholt pushed the pace frenetically with his non-stop motor. Frank Mir wondered aloud whether Rosholt would be the second coming of Urijah Faber, heavier but with the same tenacity. His grappling and mat-game are impressive, and his iron chin afforded him the opportunity to stick around long enough to win the fight, despite terrible defense when on both feet. He also nearly fell victim to an armbar at the beginning of the second round.
Jake Rosholt attended Oklahoma State University, where he won three D-1 wrestling titles, two at 197 pounds (junior and senior seasons) and another at 184 pounds (freshman season). He was a four-time All-American wrestler and remains one of the greatest college wrestlers of all-time (105-20 overall record).
Rosholt remains undefeat...
