It was announced over the weekend that a fighter had failed their post-fight drug test from UFC on FX 7 in Brazil. Immediately fingers began to point at main event fighter Vitor Belfort. However, UFC President Dana White made it clear to the media that it was not him.

UFC officials announced today that Tavares tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanalone and has been suspended nine months.
Tavares lost to up and coming lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov in the first round of their lightweight tussle.
UFC on FX 7 went down from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
