After Dan Hardy knocked Duane Ludwig down with a picture perfect left left hook on the jaw, he put both of his hands up in the air, knowing he had just knocked one of the toughest Welterweights in the game silly. There was still some work to do though for the Outlaw, he followed his unconscious opponent to the ground and landed a couple more unnecessary shots, forcing the referee to step in.

It's been a long road to victory for Hardy, he hadn't had his hand raised since his unanimous decision victory over Mike "Quick" Swick back at UFC 105 in Machester, England. Since then he's dropped four in a row. To his credit, the losses came to the current Welterweight champion, the Interim champion, a guy who is closer to Heavyweight than Welterweight on fight night, and a hero who rode off into the sunset.

In a promotion that is usually three and out, and certainly four and out, Hardy was given another chance due to his ability to bring the "War" every time. It surely can also be attributed to the lack of British stars, and his Xyience deal.

It was a bittersweet moment for Hardy ending his long slide against a man in Ludwig who he had followed throughout the duration of his career, but with this impressive knockout "The Outlaw" has just earned himself an extended life on the biggest stage in mixed martial arts.

Final Result: Dan Hardy (24-10 MMA, 5-4 UFC) defeats Duane Ludwig (21-13 MMA, 4-4 UFC) via KO (Round 1, 3:51)
