PLAYERS: Cain Velasquez
For the second time in 364 days, Cain Velasquez (pictured) posted a lopsided first round TKO win over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. On this occasion, however, Velasquez was the division’s king and collected his first successful title defense along the way.  Velasquez’s victory didn’t come without some controversy. During the post-fight press conference, Silva complained that the stoppage came a tad early and several of the punches that helped end the contest were illegally placed to the back of his head. Fortunately, we’ve obtained the video highlights from their shootout so you can judge for yourself. Velasquez will now defend his throne against former champion Junior dos Santos. They each hold a convincing victory over the other. MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted tonight’s festivities. Junior dos Santos hopes he doesn’t get booed again at UFC 160, and neither do we.

How can you boo JDS? Really, how can you? Did the entire arena that booed JDS at UFC 155 in his losing effort against Cain Velasquez realize they were booing: A. One of the nicest guys in the sport? B. One of the most hardworking? Or C. They were kind of booing for no reason? I can’t recall the last time someone got booed for getting beat up for 25 minutes. What a weird moment...
