This is going to be a fun fight to kick off the FOX portion of the evening.  These guys absolutely can not have a boring fight, as it is not in either of their DNA makeup to do so.  I expect fireworks early and often as these two veterans of the sport slug it out until one of them takes a nap and wakes up in the shadow of the Space Needle with a headache and a fight of the night bonus check. The Records: Mike Swick:  15-4Matt Brown:  15-11 Past Five Performances:Mike Swick:  3-2 Defeated DeMarques Johnson, Lost to Paulo Thiago, Lost to Dan Hardy, Defeated Ben Saunders and Defeated Jonathan Goulet. Matt Brown: 4-1 Defeated Luis Ramos, Defeated Stephen Thompson, Defeated Chris Cope, Lost to Seth Baczynski, Defeated John Howard. Amazing Strengths: Mike Swick:  Super fast and accurate hands.  Understanding of the fight game.  Underrated Submissions. Matt Brown:  Heavy Handed.  Durable and Scrappy.  Iron Will. Glaring Weaknesses: Mike Swick:  Made of Paper Mache … gets hurt, a lot.  Can sometimes eat a lot of shots.   Matt Brown:  Also eats punches.  Submission defense is not where it needs to be. How it should unfold: If Mike Swick were looking to just win, he’d test the waters standing, then take the fight to the ground and start looking for Brown’s neck.  However, Mike Swick is a showman, and he loves the idea of knocking people out.  For that reason, you can expect this to be a standup war, for at least the first round.  Matt Brown and Mike Swick will both at times employ the, “Eat a shot to land a shot” tactic and it could be a scary proposition in this fight.  Both guys can throw big shots, and one clean shot can change the course of the fight.  While Brown might be on a three fight winning streak, it’s not against top level talent, and certainly Mike Swick poses a significant threat to Brown going for in a row. I would think they might stand for the better part of two rounds, but when slugging it out on adrenalin gives way to employing a heady game plan, expect Mike Swick to take the fight down and go looking for a submission.   Matt Brown won’t just fall over with his neck exposed, Matt Hume’s taught him better than that, but in the end, you are a victim to your weaknesses and Swick should lock on the submission in the late going, in a fun, bloody clash. Bottom Line: Tons of bluster early from these two, giving way to a methodical search for submissions in the late going.  They will likely be frontrunners for Fight of the Night, and looking at this card, Swick will likely add a Submission of the Night as well in the third round.  By Dan Rose for hov-mma
