Proudest Mom Ever? Benson Henderson put a shellacking on Nate Diaz in Seattle, Washington last night. It was the type of dominant championship performances that left fans wondering, who's next? One could argue that Benson's victories (especially the one at UFC 150) over Frankie Edgar weren't decisive enough to establish him as the undisputed #1 lightweight in the world. His victory over Nate Diaz renders that argument invalid.

The Stats:

Benson Henderson: Benson landed 124 sig. strikes at a  63% clip. Nate went 30 for 83 for 36%. The Champ hit 8 of his 12 takedowns for a 67% TD rate, while Nate went 0-fer being denied on all 6 of his attempts. Benson landed 183 out of 259 strikes altogether, 100 of them being ground strikes. Diaz went 95 for 160. The Champ scored the 2 lone knockdowns of the contest.

The Decision:

Benson Henderson improves to 18-2 career, 6-0 in the UFC with a 50-45, 50-45, 50-43 unanimous decision victory over Nate Diaz who falls to 16-8 career, 11-6 UFC.

What's Next?:

Benson Henderson has expressed that he would like to stay at 155 lbs and take on all comers for his title. Diaz believes that his teammate Gilbert Melendez should be next in line for a crack at Bendo. The winner of Anthony Pettis vs. Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 6 is the right answer for Bendo at this point. He has a history with both fighters and Pettis of all people deserves to be in line for the next crack at the lightweight strap.   Also, Eddie Alvarez has already decided which promotion he will sign with. He won't be sharing with us though for another couple of weeks. If Alvarez does decided to sign with the UFC, a #1 contenders bout between him and Melendez could be in the works. Alvarez would also be a great opponent for Nate Diaz in 2013.
