After a night of freebie MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Thiago Silva (Pictured), Cung Le, Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig each an additional $40,000 for their special performances Saturday at “UFC on FUEL TV: Franklin vs. Le.”
There was only one submission and one knockout in the event, so those bonuses were no-brainers.
Silva was getting handled in the opening two frames before rallying to catch Stanislav Nedkov in an arm triangle choke. The victory marked Silva’s first since beating Keith Jardine in 2009.
Le made quick work of Rich Franklin in the show’s featured attraction. A vicious overhand right in the 1stRound had Franklin unconscious and planking on the Octagon canvas. The strike was more than worthy of ‘Knockout of the Night’ honor.
Gomi and Danzig were rewarded with ‘Fight of the Night’ for their back-and-forth battle. “The Fireball Kid” took home a split decision win, in addition to the bonus check.
UFC on FUEL TV 6 took place inside Cotai Arena in Macau, China.
Fight of the Night:
Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig ($40,000/each)
Submission of the Night:
Thiago Silva ($40,000)
Knockout of the Night:
Cung Le ($40,000)
