Bellator MMA is gearing up to host their first pay-per-view broadcast. How concerned is UFC president Dana White (pictured) that his biggest competitor might take a bite out of his MMA pie?
Let’s just say, White isn’t losing any sleep over it. In fact, White, who is notorious for putting on last-minute cards to counter program past competitors, won’t do that when Bellator dabbles in the PPV pond on November 2.
White believes Bellator is too focused on him than they are their own company to succeed. Case in point, the press conference Bellator held featuring former UFC light heavyweight champs Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Tito Ortiz to promote their PPV scrap.
“I’m sure you guys saw when they did their press conference, all they talked about was me,” White said Thursday. “What are they going to talk about? That fight? ‘Well, you guys have lost your last 10 fights, uh, how do you think this fight is going to go? Well, I can tell you this, one of us is going to win. Somebody’s ‘O’ has got to go.’ But it’s the opposite of what you normally talk about [at a presser].
“Obviously, they need money, and good for them. Let them do their thing. I’m not [concerned] at all about it.”
White believes Bellator is a sinking ship that doesn’t know their port from their starboard, so he’ll simply stand safely ashore and watch them go down on their own accord like the Titanic. As far as the critical comments Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney recently directed the UFC’s way, White suggested Rebney get his own ducks in order before swimming with the sharks.
“I saw that ‘Bjork’ was talking some smack,” White added. “I’m like, dude, just shut up and run your business. That’s over, man. You probably should have done that in the beginning when you had some legs to stand on. You need to shut up and run his business. They’re hurting.
“‘How’s your competitive spirit feeling?’ My [expletive] video blog does more viewers than their television show does. I’m not feeling very competitive.”

When Dana White has a star in his grasp, expect him to hold on for the ride and even help launch it into superstardom, but come on – there’s no way you’re going out on a peak, it just doesn’t happen that often in sports. This is no John Elway situation, and even though Ronda Rousey has said that she wants out in a about two more years, Dana White doesn’t think so.
