Remember last weekend when UFC president Dana White said he had something planned for middleweight king Anderson Silva that did not involve top contender Chris Weidman?  “We’re waiting on something and want to see if this thing pans out,” White stated. “When we’re ready to announce it, we’ll announce it. [Silva] will defend his title, but it won’t be a super fight.” Well, it appears the “something” the organization is waiting on is to see if former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans (Pictured) is victorious this Saturday against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 156. If Evans beats Little Nog and wants to drop to the 185-pound division, White would contemplate giving “Suga” an immediate shot at Silva’s throne. “I would consider Rashad [as Silva's next opponent],” White expressed following Thursday’s UFC 156 Ultimate Media Day. “If Rashad won on Saturday night and wanted to go to 185 [pounds], we would consider that. I’m considering it.” If White decides to follow through on his thoughts and Evans wants to shed the 20 extra pounds required to swim in “The Spider’s” pond, he’ll get the opportunity to back up his previous claims that he possesses the arsenal to dethrone the most decorated athlete in UFC history. Silva last defended his crown against Chael Sonnen in July. The soon-to-be 38-year-old doesn’t want to return to action until the spring.
