When Kimbo Slice busted onto the scene, I was skeptical about his success; I said immediately, despite my limited MMA knowledge, that he was being set up against easy opponents to rack up an impressive record. Looks like I was right, because Kimbo didn't even last 15 seconds with Seth Petruzelli in their fight [...]

Anybody can get knocked down by any punch that hits you on the button. The same thing happened to GSP/Serra, Serra caught him on the button and it was over. The thing that did not happen in the GSP/Serra fight was GSP trying to get up only to get hit in the back of the head. I am not a Kimbo fan by any means, but love how he respects all the fighters. I dont know why Kimbo didnt touch gloves with seth. That threw me a bit, but whenever I saw that Seth was a Karate guy I knew he was going to know how to fight somebody coming full out. Kind of like Lyoto Machida, he is a great technical fighter, Karate black belt, and just overall top notch fighter.
I used to watch Pride alot. It got addicting. I don't really watch the ufc. It's ok, but I like watching a lot of different fights, not just one big fight like the way the ufc seems to be set up. I just don't like the ufc all that much the way everyone around here does.
I understand anyone can be knocked down, but if you are a boxer like Kimbo is supposed to be, he would have not thrown his chin out like that or at least protected himself a little. Maybe he underestimated the kid.
Also, I have been punched in the face before, and it isn't like you just fall down if someone hits you on the chin. I mean, you can either take a punch or you can't. It is just the way it is in my humble perspective.
What I was trying to say was:
For example, I get myself in trouble and get into a fight on the street with some girl my size but she has like scrawny arms and probably weighs less, has less muscle mass. If she punches me in the face, I might go down (doubt it!) or I might laugh at her. Probably the latter. NOW if I went and somehow ended up in a cage match with Gina Carano, the chances of me ever getting back up are slim. She would knock me out in less then three seconds and I would be kissing the matt. Nite nite!
Such seems to be the case with Kimbo. Sure he probably whooped some a$$ in a few bars/clubs/highschools, but when you go and fight with people who get punched in the face for a living and have been doing so since they were 5 it is a different story.
