UFC Middleweight Vitor Belfort

On Tuesday, a middleweight shootout between Vitor Belfort (Pictured) and Anthony Johnson was added to UFC 142. The January 14th event takes place at a yet-to-be announced city in Brazil.

Although Belfort was pushing for a scrap against Chael Sonnen, it appears he’ll have to settle for a rumble against the former welterweight. “The Phenom” was slated to face Cung Le later this month at UFC 139, but was forced to pull out with an injury.

Belfort was last seen putting Yoshihiro Akiyama to sleep at UFC 133 in August.

After countless cries for the oversized 170-pounder to move up to the middleweight class, it appears Johnson is finally prepared to make the jump. “Rumble” has had difficulty making weight in the past, however easily qualified in his last outing against Charlie Brenneman at “UFC on Versus 6” exactly one month ago.

Johnson bumped record to 10-3 following the devastating TKO victory.

No official location has been announced to host UFC 142, but the HSBC Arena in Rio de Jenairo is the current frontrunner.
