The Ultimate Fighting Championship will kick-off 2013 with a return to Brazil on January 19th. Headlining the action will be a key middleweight clash between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping.
UFC officials confirmed the event on Saturday, as well as, twelve bouts for the fight card. The city and venue for the event is expected to be announced soon.
Belfort (21-10) recently stepped up to face light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 152. Belfort would ultimately be submtted in the fourth round but not before putting a scare in the champion with a tight submission attempt of his own. Prior to that bout, Belfort had knocked out Yoshihiro Akiyama and submitted Anthony Johnson.
Bisping (23-4) has won five his past six outings including most recently a unanimous decision win over Brian Stann at UFC 152. The one setback was a close decision loss to two-time title challenger Chael Sonnen. Bisping also holds wins over Jason Miller, Jorge Rivera, Yoshihiro Akiyama and Dan Miller.
