The kid is alright

If your big on freestyle youve no doubt heard of Lance Coury. This 18 year old is blowin up with more style and grace then that chic that plays snow white on ice. I got together with lance to give you the goods, the bads, and even got him to tell you his "dirty" little secret. watch out for lance, hes coming and theres not much that could stop him. 1.tell the fans a lil bit about yourself. What got you started in rideing, who are your major influences stylewise? My name is Lance Coury and I ride freestyle motocross. I have been racing motocross since 1995. I got my first bike, a pw 50, when I was 4 years old. I started racing within a couple weeks of getting my first bike. After that I raced all of the local races in Southern California also raced in the World Minis, Ponca City, and many other nationals. I won the AMA California State Championship in 2000 in 9-11 65cc. When I turned 15 I started really checking out freestyle. I was getting so bored with the little jumps at tracks and needed to go bigger. I would go to the local tracks and go out during practice and do heel clickers and no footed cans. Then I hooked up with Shane Trittler and the rest is history.I look up to every rider who has pushed the limits in this sport. 2.What are your goals for the future? where do you plan on taking your freestyle career? I plan on working hard and doing my best to get to the top. 3.Weve seen you in the lateset on the pipe film as well as Fuel tv's M-80 and other videos, you seem to be comfortable riding big natural as well as the normal ramp courses, wich do you prefer? I enjoy riding both. It all depends on how I feel when I wake up. 4.With a place to ride like wyvern ranch, you can pretty much ride any time you like. Do you think thats a big advantage as opposed to just learning things out in the hills like some of the older riders? It does help, but I had to work my butt off to be able to get Wyvern. It wasn'tjust put in front of me on a platter. I used to rely on other peoples spots, but it wasn't fun only being able to ride when they wanted to. So I found a solution, and it ended up being a dream come true. 5.You recently took part in Fuel tv's "The Great Ride Open", a tour of various riding spots all across the country, how was it hitting the road with Team Redbull to shred all over the U.S? Being able to go on The Great Ride Open was an experience of a lifetime. I had a blast and it was cool because I feel I gained respect from all the guys on the trip as the days went by.I learned new stuff every time we went out. 6.Do you ever spend any time on the racetracks or is it strictly FMX for you? I still go to the local tracks and put in laps. Since I grew up racing all of my friends still go to the tracks to practice so I will go out and have a good time with everyone. 7.We've seen you in a few demos and shows, when do you think you might be breaking into the contest circuit? When the time is right. 8.Is there something that hardly anyone knows about you? Some know this but I truthfully hate getting dirty. 9.Is there anything you ant to say to your fans or haters? Thanks for all of your support and keep an eye out for me! LC LanceCoury.com
