Gil De Ferran on the track at Mid-Ohio: Other incidents were costly, with one leaving a veteran crew member in critical condition with burns after a massive pit-lane fire broke out. /// The fire knocked the pole-winning Acura LMP2-class prototype of De Ferran Motorsports out of the race. Owner-driver Gil de Ferran had turned the ride over to Simon Pagenaud, who left his pit box too soon and knocked his fueler down as fuel sprayed in several directions. /// The fire spanned from where Pagenaud stopped the burning car all the way back to the pit box, a distance of about 15 yards.
