If you listened to the words of Richard Childress on SirusXM then you’d have to gather that Clint Bowyer has 11 races left at RCR. Bowyer had hoped to use the interest Carl Edwards generated from other teams as justification for his demands of a three year contract. Thus far nothing has materialized other then an offer from Richard Petty Motorsports.
Childress and Bowyer have enjoyed a stable relationship over the years but with sponsorship for 2012 in doubt and Bowyer not the type of driver who could win every week things hit a snag during contract negotiations.
The money quote from Childress during the interview expressed the struggle the two had over negotating a deal and referred to the driver in the past tense.
