Team: No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion Crew Chief: Jimmy Fennig Primary Chassis: RK- 853 new chassis Backup Chassis: RK – 771 last ran at Watkins Glen Carl Edwards: Enters Sonoma second in the Sprint Cup point standings. In 15 Cup Series starts in 2013, he has accumulated one win, five top-five, eight top-10 finishes and one pole. Edwards at Sonoma: Edwards will make his ninth Cup start at Sonoma this weekend. In his previous eight starts, Edwards has one top-five and three top-10 finishes, and has led 14 laps. His average start is 19.6 and his average finish is 17.1. The Car: The Aflac team will be bringing chassis RK-853 this weekend to Sonoma. This is the same chassis the team tested at VIR in May. Primary Sponsor Note: Edwards was last seen in the No. 99 Aflac Ford at Kansas Speedway and will return to an Aflac primary paint scheme for the third time this season. Edwards quotes on the Toyota/SaveMart 350: “I love racing in Sonoma. Growing up, I didn’t have much exposure to road racing, so this track and Watkins Glen have been huge challenges for me as a driver. The mental and physical demands this track puts on drivers are huge. The track will be hot and the cars will slide all over. From a pure driving perspective, this race is the most fun and challenging one of the year. It would be a great race to win considering all of the people who have helped to make me a faster road racer.” -Roush Fenway Racing PR
