PLAYERS: Denny Hamlin
By: Toby Christie – Follow on Twitter @Tobalical Denny Hamlin wanted to start the race at Richmond — his home track — that he was holding out hope that his body would heal faster than the time frame set by Dr. Jerry Petty. Hamlin held out hope until late Wednesday, when the hopes of competing Saturday vanished. Hamlin tweeted the following: “Unfortunately I won’t be racing this weekend at Richmond. Thanks to all of my fans who have sent encouraging messages over the last month. I’ll be back in no time.” No word on when exactly Hamlin will be back in the racecar, but considering the fact he has already committed to not going the full-distance at Talladega, that race would seem out of the question. Hamlin has two career Sprint Cup Series wins at Richmond International Raceway, and his career average finish through 14 starts at the s...
