According to stock car racing legend Richard Petty, there's only one possible way that Danica Patrick would ever win a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, and that's if she was racing on the track by herself.Petty's comments came on Sunday when he made an appearance at the Canadian Motorsports Expo. This is where he was asked if Patrick would ever end up in Victory Lane in the Sprint Cup Series.“(Only) if everybody else stayed home,” said Petty.“If she’d have been a male, nobody would ever know if she’d showed up at a race track,” said the seven-time Daytona 500 champion. “This is a female deal that’s driving her. There’s nothing wrong with that, because that’s good PR for me. More fans come out, people are more interested in it. She has helped to draw attention to the sport, which helps everybody in the sport.”Ouch.This isn't the first time a member from the Petty family has taken aim at Patrick, though. Last summer, Kyle Petty made similar remarks, saying that Patrick would never become a dominant driver.Photo Credit: Getty Images
