Citing earlier events in the race, Danica Patrick did not have a problem with her making contact with the No. 83 car of Landon Cassill. Patrick made contact with Cassill after he passed her and then attempted to move in front of her in turn one of Kansas Speedway. It was at that moment that Patrick made contact with the rear end of Cassill’s car and then tapped the left rear. Both cars would get sideways but it was the No. 10 car of Patrick that would hit the wall and be knocked from the race. The crew chief for Patrick told her over the scanner that “you know better then to do that” following the incident.“I’ve just been frustrated with the 83″ Patrick would say in a post race interview with ESPN.  “Ive always played fair…. It’s been pretty consistent.. I’ve got to stand up for myself or everyone is going to do it.”Following Patrick’s attempted wreck of him Cassill radioed “rule number one in stock car racing is learn how to wreck someone without wrecking yourself.”You can view a v

Video: Danica Patrick wrecks after retaliation fail at Kansas Speedway

Danica Patrick  manages to stay in the news in a variety of ways, and during the Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway on Sunday it was by picking a fight with another driver. Patrick was upset by some contact Cassill’s No. 83 car made while executing a pass, and attempted to show her displeasure by giving Cassill’s car a shove and turning him sideways. That’s where things went...

Danica Patrick wrecks herself in failed retaliation attempt (video)

Danica Patrick has crashed again. She wasn’t thrilled of the way Landon Cassill was racing against her, but when she took action, she ended up in the fence with a badly damaged car. She violated a couple basic rules of NASCAR From the Marbles: Patrick entered the corner with her front fender on Cassill’s rear bumper, and maintained the contact through the turn while moving him...

Danica takes the worst of tangle

Landon Cassill learned a valuable lesson while racing Late Models in his home state of Iowa. While trading paint at a local short track with a rival -- in what the driver refers to as "a tickle fight" -- Cassill fenced the other racer and wrecked both cars. Cassill, who was 15 at the time, recalls the immediate response of his father and then car owner: "I want you...

Landon Cassill: Danica Patrick was ‘driving like a maniac’

Danica Patrick traded paint with fellow driver Landon Cassill on Sunday at Kansas Speedway and lost. Fighting for position near the rear of the field in the middle of the race, Patrick admitted it was “frustration” that caused her to get tangled up with Cassill but resulted in her wrecking her own car. Cassill says he was baffled by Patrick’s racing style. “It’s still halfway...

Danica Patrick disappointed in her NASCAR Nationwide results this season

Danica Patrick readily admits her rookie season in NASCAR hasn’t exactly set the world afire. Making the transition from IndyCar to stock cars can be difficult for anyone, and she’s aware that her results haven’t exactly been stellar. She was quoted in Auto Week: “I feel like we’ve been overall much faster than what our results have showed and performed better in the race...

'Really good day' as Danica is 10th

Danica Patrick hoped to "coast" to a better finish on Saturday, but settled for 10th instead. When a late-race caution extended the event by six laps, the game plan changed. No longer would her team's initial fuel-mileage strategy play out after Scott Lagasse Jr. and Hal Martin made contact in Turn 2 with two laps remaining in the advertised distance of the Kansas...

Danica upset with Nationwide results

Trouble in practice, difficulty qualifying, late-race wrecks and even a shoe - yes, a shoe - that she ran over while leading has defined Danica Patrick's first full Nationwide season. She has only two top-10s through the first 29 races for JR Motorsports, and has yet to crack the top 20 during the first seven races of an abbreviated Sprint Cup slate for Stewart-Haas Racing,...
