It hasn’t been a good breakup for Sprint Cup driver’s Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin. The former teammates continue to have issues with one another, and Logano took exception this past weekend when Hamlin spun him out with 150 laps remaining at Bristol Motor Speedway. It didn’t end on the track, as Logano took to Twitter to voice his displeasure and Hamlin responded: Why’s that.. What would u do? “@joeylogano: Hey @dennyhamlingreat job protecting that genius brain of yours by keeping your helmet on” — Denny Hamlin (@dennyhamlin) March 17, 2013 The genius comment no doubt is in reference to Hamlin’s tweet following the Daytona 500, when he sent a passive aggressive comment to Logano while congratulating 500 Champ, Brad Keselowski: “sorry I couldn’t get close to you cuz your genius teammate was too busy messing up the inside lane 1 move at a time.” This is the new NASCAR. Could you imagine Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt doing this?

Logano and Hamlin clash at Bristol

Tempers flared at Bristol Motor Speedway in -- and after -- Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Food City 500. Former Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, who engaged in a Twitter beef earlier this season, first had contact on the track then sparked a feud once more after the race. In the race, Jeff Gordon and Joey Logano had mounted an epic, multi-lap battle for...

Tilton/Getty Images By: Toby Christie – Follow on Twitter @Tobalical A few weeks ago former teammates Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano waged a war on Twitter about differences of opinion of Logano’s driving style. This week the feud reached a new level when Hamlin sent Logano’s No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion spinning into the wall on lap 349. “It...

Joey Logano confronts Denny Hamlin after race (Video)

Video: NASCAR on FOX: Teammates no more Joey Logano confronted ex-teammate Denny Hamlin after the Food City 500 Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway following an incident between the two on the track. Logano was challenging Jeff Gordon for the lead on lap 348 when Hamlin nudged him. Logano’s No. 22 car went into the wall and spun out. Logano managed to get back into the top 10 despite...

Logano-Hamlin dustup suggests spirit of 'old Bristol' remains

The action was back at Bristol Motor Speedway with a war of attrition on the track and a war of words in the garage following Kasey Kahne's victory in Sunday's Food City 500. Denny Hamlin, who led a race-high 117 laps, and his former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano, went at it verbally in a scuffle that also involved team members. The dust-up came after an incident...

Hamlin fine puts spotlight on Carl Long's plight

Denny Hamlin's recent refusal to pay his $25,000 fine has reawakened the plight of Carl Long, a driver who lacks the financial resources to settle his debt with NASCAR. Long's career as a Sprint Cup Series driver essentially ended when his team was penalized for having an illegal engine at the 2009 All-Star race. Long's crew chief was fined $200,000, an amount he was...

I wonder if Denny Hamlin might be struggling somewhat from an identity crisis at Joe Gibbs Racing...

With Fine Behind Him, Hamlin Looking To Move Forward

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway media center was a buzz with the news one week ago. Denny Hamlin was fined $25,000 for actions detrimental to stock car racing. He talked down about the new Gen 6 car after the race at Phoenix the week before and NASCAR was not going to tolerate it. Immediately Hamlin refused to pay the fine, lashing out on being hurt that it came to that. NASCAR said...

Joey Logano Doesn't Like His Ex

Ex-teammate, that is... The race in Bristol is like bumble bees in a washer dryer... It's the Roman Colosseum... It's a bunch of fighter jets rolling on a small track with no room to mess around. Starting with Matt Kenseth getting impaled when he ended up in Jeff Gordon's tail after he blew a front right tire... And continuing when Denny Hamlin wasn't taking...

Bristol race was the most encouraging in years

The fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race -- and the first on a traditional short track -- left several indelible impressions. Here’s what I found most memorable about Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway: THE RACING My senses told me this was the best racing we’ve seen at Bristol since the resurfacing of the track in 2007. No, it wasn’t the same root-and-gouge...

NASCAR's new Gen-6 car goes to Bristol's bullring

There's an expectation from fans that a ticket to Bristol Motor Speedway will get them a seat to NASCAR's version of the Roman Colosseum. They got one of those throwback, rock `em, sock `em races last August, when changes to the track surface forced drivers to get aggressive again and caused tempers to flare. Now, a month into a new Sprint Cup season, NASCAR could use another...

Gen-6 Cars Break 10 Year Old Qualifying Record at World’s Fastest Half-Mile

The Gen-6 program, NASCAR’s most comprehensive overhaul since 2007, took a giant step toward meeting program goals on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. The goals of the Generation 6 program were “to re-establish brand identity among automotive manufacturers, and to provide competitive upgrades in an effort to improve competition in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series.” Only three...
