NASCAR Preview: New Hampshire
NASCAR makes one if its two visits to the newly named New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 (because 300 laps weren't enough for you) and qualifying turned out a big surprise as Patrick Carpentier stole the pole away from Bobby Labonte towards the end of a rain-delayed qualifying session.

Carpentier to miss Pocono race
Canoe Sports is Canada is reporting that Patrick Carpentier will miss the Sprint Cup race at Pocono in early August so that he can fully concentrate on running the Nationwide race in Montreal that same weekend.

GEM signs Carpentier to drive 2008 Sprint Cup season
Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced today that they have added Patrick Carpentier to their driver lineup for 2008. The Quebec native and former open wheel stand out will drive fulltime in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next year as well as select races in the Nationwide [Busch] Series. The car number and sponsorship have not yet been announced.
