Found June 10, 2008 on Denver Stiffs:
During the NBA Playoffs, we were blitzed by Lakers "fans" talking trash about the Nuggets players and their fans. Since I've split my time between Denver and Los Angeles for the past several years, I've learned a thing or two about Lakers "fans" that I'll share with you all today. But before I throw gasoline on the fire that's already erupted between Lakers "fans" and Nuggets fans, I will give Lakers "fans" one morsel of credit. Like ...

My sentiments exactly. Hec, after the Warriors dethroning the Mavs last year....I saw Warrior Jerseys and shirts poppin' up like hotcakes here in the Southland. Made me sick. They traded those for the Laker car flags now that they are winning again. (Yuck)

  • Claiming there is favoritism is just horsesh-t, every team has had a moment in their careers where a bad call went their way or didn't go their way. The difference is that since the Lakers are in the limelight so much more than other teams due to their often playoff bound teams, and thus they get noticed more heavily. I agree about the fanboys who jump on the wagon, but I'm one of the few Shaq Supporters who though he was the single greatest reason for the 4 finals and 3 championships, and that Kobe had everything to do with his trade and was and still acts like a whiny child when he doesn't get what he wants. Anyone remember when he sat out an entire game because his "toe hurt" despite the "big fat lazy" shaq playing on hurt toes most of that season? I'm so sure he wasn't just throwing a fit.
Kobe's good, there's no denying it, but unlike some of the other great players in the NBA, he's also a big d0uche.

go back to denver and cry because you lost to the best team in the nba
  • 14 REASONS WHY YOU HATE THE LAKERS AND US FANS:
    1949 • 1950 • 1952 • 1953 • 1954 • 1972 • 1980 • 1982 • 1985 • 1987 • 1988 • 2000 • 2001 • 2002

  • Very true on all aspects I know I deal with them at work, and the Lakers fans who commented back with their two year old comebacks is quite lame

  • I don't think the Lakers are hated as much as the Fans are, just look at their comments on this post, they are angry children at best.

Also in fairness to the "Thuggets", Phil Jackson beat George Karl, plain and simple, hell George Karl is the only coach to lose badly with NBA Stars in the Olympics, go figure.

Seems like a pretty one sided rant...if the NBA is so catered towards the lakers, what happened when Shaq left and the Lakers weren't doing as well...wait..was the NBA jus taking some time off before beginning the rest of their "plan" give it a rest homie...i'ma bulls fan...but wait, lemme guess...when MJ was tearing up the league, the NBA was rooting for the Bulls...right? how could i forget..

The Lakers are nothing without Shaq.
      • HoopsHoncho
And Shaq is nothing PERIOD so ... wow.. I guess we're all on an even playing field now. :-)
  • britneyrose
My mother, my entire family for that matter, and most of my friends are Laker fans and have been for quite some time now. As long as I can remember actually, so that being said I can't say that I really hate Laker fans, I know good ones DO exist and don't just go to games because the Staples Center is the place to be.

Anyway, I agree with reason number three...to an extent. I'm sure there were some Laker fans out there that didn't like Shaq, even when he was winning titles with the Lakers but for the most part, when he was there and winning rings along-side Kobe, Laker fans weren't complaining. Maybe he was boring, lazy, over-weight, and not a hard worker (doubt all that.) ...he must have been doing something right, right!?! But I do think for the most part, Laker fans do respect what Shaq did for that team. At least I would hope so.

Oh yea, a friend of mine just told me about Sterns "Lakers vs. Lakers" comment earlier in the season! Did he say it because they have the largest fan base in the league? And it seems all Stern is concerned with is money and TV ratings.

I like the Lakers and I'm happy to see them in the Finals (if it can't be my Suns) but David Stern needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut, there is already too much conspiracy in the NBA...he doesn't need to add to it with a silly comment like that.
    • theoneandonly
I respect what he did for the team, but dont like the way he left LA or Miami. Im just not a fan of him at all.
    • about the Lakers having the largest fan base in the league, theyre from a huge city yes, so of course they have alot of fans. but there are soooo many people who just call themselves Lakers fans when they come to town. i was at a Kings game a few months ago when they were in town and there were more Lakers fans than Kings fans. half of the lakers fans in the house that night probably have kings jerseys shoved in their closets just waiting for sacramento to be good again.
  • theoneandonly
Also dont like how he leaves when a team is down. He might be like Pat Riley is in coaching. Stays when its good and leaves when its bad. I wont say Shaq is overrated like Pat is, but doesnt like putting work in a team that might be suffering.

    • Kobe wanted to leave before things were going good for the Lakers why don't you hate him??
      • wait, he still plays for the Lakers, I guess my question was if he did leave would you hate him the same way you hate Shaq??
  • icecold33
"clobbering white defenders after jump shots" what does that have to do with anything..couldnt have just said clobbering defenders...had to say "white defenders" haha...some things will never change..

and lastly...your complaining because he curses at officials...do you watch alot of basketball? Many NBA players curse out officials...after all the stuff goin on, so would I!! I respect your opinion...but stop reaching for stuff..
  • i live on the east coast and the lame ass lakers fans i know are like the pathetic, non indigenous dallass fans and yankees fans that pollute the country: a bunch of front running losers. i hate boston too, but im rooting for them vs. the lakers.

Ok as a devout Laker fan, basically since BIRTH, having grown up here, I take offense to this. So let's take this line by line, shall we?

    10) The courtside seats are empty at the begining cuz traffic is a BITCH in case you haven't noticed. At the 3rd quarter everyone is trying to take a piss or get beer... both lines are fairly extensive.

    9) I for one, have said for QUITE A WHILE, that Kwame "Butterfingers" Brown is a hot piece of GARBAGE. I couldn't wait to get him out of here no matter WHO they acquired for his overpaid punk ass. As for Caron Butler, I have admitted (and will now in an open forum) that I was wrong about that one and I got the Jannero Pargo one wrong too> I stand by my comments about Kareem Rush though.

    8) The conspiracy theory about the Grizzlies GM being a Laker fan is just complete BULLSHIT. Being a moron doesn't make you a conspirator.

    7) You leave Vic The Brick ALONE or I will go Britney on you. He is a revered figure in sports talk radio along with my homeboys Petros & Money. I have no doubt that since he didn't bring his poncho to BOS that is why we lost out there. Thank god he wore it LAST night.

    6) Fake tits occupy L.A. as a WHOLE... they just get to be viewed in a more widely viewed WAY at Staples when everyone brings their bimbo gf's as their dates trying to impress them. Trust me, nobody is more annoyed than me when I hear a chick yelling "GO KOBE!" and that's the only thing she knows how to say thruout the ENTIRE GAME. I actualy turn down VIP suite tickets because I can't stand the audience that is up there. People who are there to be social should have a party at a BAR, NOT AT STAPLES IN THE MIDDLE OF SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT GAMES. Jesus H can I get an AMEN? UGH.

    5) For the record, there are no real Clippers fans .. unless they are people who like disappointment .. like say, the 49ers fans, for example. I for one, have NEVER and WILL NEVER be a Clippers fan. The people who are Clippers fans are people who, for 5 minutes, get to soak in the revelry of being at Staples Center for the experince and they usually don't know the 1st thing about basketball IN GENERAL (*except Clipper Daryll - Holla at your Girl!) Being a Clippers fan AND a Lakers fan is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. It's like backing the Bruins AND the Trojans on the same wknd. It just doesn't work like that.

    4) I have had League Pass since the dawn of time, and I have a custom made Luke Walton Lakers jersey DRESS. What does one thing have to do with the other?

    3) I actually DID like Shaq .. when he was a) JOVIAL, b) IN SHAPE and c) NOT THROWING EVERYONE UNDER THE BUS FOR HIS SHORTCOMINGS. He's turned into a hater of the worst kind and a hater of everyone in the league. I've YET to hear him say something good about someone besides Amare Stoudamire this season.

    2) Where do I begin with how many ways from Sunday this is total crap? First of all, 5 yr olds should not be sitting courtside, I don't care HOW rich their daddies are. Nobody can appreciate the game til they're at least 10 and by then, they've been exposed to worse things than "That m-f'er jacked my shot". As for us all "defending Kobe", I STILL do not believe he raped that girl but I am the FIRST PERSON to shred his ass if he doesn't show up in a game or starts screwing up. He's supposed to be the Magic Man and if he's not, nobody else comes with it either so it effs up the entire team dynamic. He has every right to be pissed at his teammates if he's doing all the work and they're just hanging out (Hey LAMAR, I'm TALKIN TO YOU!) or stinkin up the joint. Curt Schilling can screw off for all that crap he spewed on his blog over the wknd. I have great season seats where I constantly see him praise the team and their efforts or pull someone aside and give them a nugget of suggestion for strategy on upcoming plays.

BTW, that DUI thing was the funniest goddamn chant THIS SEASON short of last night the chant my girlfriend Joanna & I started of "WHEEL-CHAIR, WHEEL-CHAIR, WHEEL-CHAIR" when Rondo had to be helped off. LMAO. We're clever, dammit. Give credit where credit is due.

    1) I saw the Bill Laimbeer foul and he elbowed him. It wasn't a RAJA BELL CLOTHESLINING kinda obvious but it was there. YOU watch the tape. As for the rest of that twisted conspiracy, nobody likes the Pistons. Wait, let me rephrase that: Nobody likes THE PALACE AT AUBURN HILLS. As a writer I PRAAAAAAYED that I wouldn't have to go out to the ghetto of Detroit to cover a Finals with Lakers against the Pistons. Ever since the Jermaine O'Neal/Ron Artest free for all, that place has a scarlett letter. As for Portland, that was so long ago dude and Portland was not what it is now, so of course nobody was going to jump at the chance to rush right out to OREGON. People want BIG CITIES to play BIG GAMES IN. Places you can FLY PEOPLE IN and it doesn't cost a FORTUNE for the AIRFARE. Places that can accomodate a week's worth of activites. Why do you think they pick such fun places for the All-Star game?!

That's all, sorry for taking up so much space, Ya'All. :-)

    • C'mon man, that DUI chant ain't nothin genius. We could be chanting Rapist! to Kobe, cos we know they at the very least had sex. And we don't all be chantin SIDS to Lamar Odom! But it was a good post man, but come on I think rapin sum1 is a little worse than a DUI, and this proves that y'all defend Kobe even when y'all be knowin that there's no point cos y'all be wrong.
      • they'll defend Kobe as long as he stays a Laker. as soon as he leaves he'll be the devil rapist who threw his teammates under the bus, just like they are doing with Shaq. he'll all of a sudden be over-rated. ;) it's all about the rings:

As long as he can still get them a ring, he can get away with ANYTHING. - pun intended. =D
    • THANK YOU
SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN LA GIVES A GOOD RESPONSE

i was about to do the same thing but i saw this post
      you got it completly right
i was going to say the same exact things
  • Amen!!!!! There are way more than 10 reasons to hate Lakers fans.... there are at least 100. Laker fans remind me of those annoying children who stick their fingers in their ears and yell when they don't want to listen to adults. By the way, I love how Jack Nicholson tries to be all up in the huddles and pep talks. Poor bastard is so old and senile. Somebody needs to finally break the news to the guy that he isn't actually part of the team.
