Found October 22, 2012 on Orlando Magic Daily:
Believe it or not, we are about a month away from Opening Night. Orlando opened training camp on October 1 and have opened the preseason. So how will we get ready? By counting down to the beginning of the season on November 2 against Denver. Let's continue: The Magic have an interesting contingent of former players that plan on plying their trade in China this year. Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! reported that Gilbert Arenas is close to signing a deal in China. He will join Von Wafer and Tracy McGrady in playing overseas in the suddenly expanding and suddenly popular Chinese Basketball Association. McGrady's trip to play in China seems a bit premature. McGrady after all is only 33 years old despite 15 years in the NBA. Knee injuries and multiple surgeries have taken away much of his explosiveness. But for four years in Orlando, McGrady was one of the best players in the NBA, the league's top scorer and an unstoppable force. Before he left for China (or at least...

Arron Afflalo hopeful to make preseason debut

Weve witnessed Glen Davis dominance in the post, seen Jameer Nelsons command at the point and watched J.J. Redicks accurate shooting from behind the arc. In the first five games of the preseason, the core players on the Orlando Magic have looked good, but not great. On Wednesday night, we may get our first glimpse of the player the Magic hope will make all the difference. I definitely...

Orlando Magic still learning in preseason

Pick and rolls, hand offs, down screens, basket cuts. This is certainly a different Orlando Magic team from the in-and-out, spot-up basketball played under Stan Van Gundy. Jacque Vaughns motion offense continues to produce easy scoring opportunities for a variety of players in the flow of the game. On Friday night against the Indiana Pacers, it was finally enough to give the new...

10 Days to Tip off: Magic waive Eyenga, A. Johnson

Believe it or not, we are about two weeks away from Opening Night. Orlando opened training camp on October 1 and have reach the midpoint of the preseason. So how will we get ready? By counting down to the beginning of the season on November 2 against Denver. Let's continue: The big decisions we know are coming have finally started to pass down. The Magic trimmed their roster...

NBA Preview: Dwightmare ends; Magic ache

Pop quiz: What do you get when take the games best center and turn him into a bunch of role players? If you guessed the Orlando Magic -- congratulations. You win a trip to Disney World! Not really, but if you do happen to visit Orlando anytime soon, Mickey Mouse is probably your best option. Dwight Howard is gone. Not that the Magic were exactly world-beaters with Howard. But...

The NBA Probably Prevented ESPN From Hiring Stan Van Gundy

The NBA league office more than likely rejected ESPN’s bid to hire former Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. ESPN considered hiring Van Gundy for the “NBA Countdown” studio show, but elected to go in a different direction. Earlier this month, The Big Lead reported that NBA Commissioner David Stern “allegedly stepped in and prevented ESPN from hiring Van Gundy, who he has...

Magic Waive Eyenga, Armon Johnson

The Magic have waived Christian Eyenga and Armon Johnson.

After offseason changes, this isn't same 'ol Hawks

No one can say this is the same ol' Atlanta Hawks. Tired of one year blending into another, with little progress in either direction, the Hawks decided to take a dramatically different path heading into this season. Joe Johnson was traded. So was Marvin Williams. Atlanta is left with a guard-dominated team that could be highly entertaining, though it will be hard-pressed to...

Magic beginning to pull it together

There was a ton of frustration in the first four preseason games. The Magic looked good, perhaps better than expected. But they were not putting it together and bringing in results. Not in the win-loss column, for what that is worth in the preseason. That little bit may not matter, but the Orlando as a franchise is not trying to forsake wins or a winning mentality. That matters...

The Hawks Pay Tolls For Passengers

ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta Hawks will be sponsoring both the Northbound and Southbound tolls on GA 400 on Wednesday, October 24 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., in partnership with the State Road and Tollway Authority. All 50 cent, cashier and Cruise Card/Peach Pass lanes’ tolls will be paid for by the Atlanta Hawks during this time. In addition to the paid toll sponsorship, Harry the Hawk...

Stan Van Gundy Blames David Stern for Influencing ESPN's Decision to Pull Job Offer

It’s no secret that the relationship between Stan Van Gundy and David Stern isn’t exactly a pleasant one, and it doesn't appear to be getting any better. After Van Gundy was fired as head coach of the Orlando Magic, ESPN had planned to hire the hard-nosed coach as an NBA analyst. Van Gundy’s fire and willingness to say just about anything seemed to be...

This weekend in jerseys: Dwight Coward, the Franchise, and the Ship

This past weekend I was in Orlando for one of my girlfriends friends wedding. Lebron must not have been the only one to take his talents to Florida because there were enough honeys there for Wilt Chamberlain to get his, have seconds, and everyone else get a taste too (note: I do not partake in these sort of shenanigans since I have a wonderful and loving girlfriend but instead relay...

Magic remain optimistic as post-Howard era begins

In the building Dwight Howard's exploits helped build it's hard to find even the smallest remnant of the former Orlando center these days. The photographs, murals and other likenesses that once adorned virtually every other crevice inside the Magic's Amway Center have been scraped away, now just painful reminders of championship aspirations never realized. After taking...

Spurs lose preseason matchup with Magic

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Rookie Andrew Nicholson scored 18 points and Glen Davis added 17 to help the Orlando Magic beat the San Antonio Spurs 104-100 Sunday night in preseason action. It was the second straight win for the Magic, who have two exhibition games remaining. The Spurs lost consecutive games for the first time this preseason and host Washington Friday in their final regular...

Preseason Rundown: Magic outscore Spurs in Orlando

After falling closely to the Miami Heat on Saturday, the San Antonio Spurs(3-3) paid a visit to Orlando where they were hosted by the Magic (3-4). Unlike the close game against Miami, Sunday was a game in which the Spurs were in it for one quarter, and they just couldn’t make a strong push against the Magic as they fell 104-101 on Sunday. Danny Green was the leading...
