Found July 11, 2012 on Staring Down Spike:

The Indiana Pacers got many negative comments about their first round pick of Miles Plumlee, but he’s showing that he can be a true asset for them. Frank Vogel and the rest of the Pacers’ crew said that Plumlee would be their dirty work guy like Jeff Foster was, but nobody expected Miles to become a scorer for them. So far down in Orlando, he is.

Plumlee is averaging 14 points per game in his first three games as a member of the Pacers. His true bread and butter, rebounding, has been good as well in Summer League. Plumlee won’t give you anything offensively outside of ten feet, but when he gets his touches inside he’s effective. His offensive abilities were shadowed in Duke’s guard-heavy system that relied on the big men to set screens for Austin Rivers and Andre Dawkins. Now, Plumlee has shown he could be threat in the Pacers up-tempo offense.

Miles started off slowly in his first game against Philadelphia, but ever since Vogel and Brian Shaw have shown that they trust Plumlee down low and they keep throwing it down low to him. Plumlee’s athletic ability showed today against Boston when he was dunking left and right on them. Watch these two facials Miles put on Sean Williams and Fab Melo below.

Those are emphatic statements Plumlee has left down in Orlando thus far. The Pacers have two games left in their Summer League against Utah and Brooklyn. We’ll see how Miles and the rest of the players fare. Plumlee has certainly opened my eyes with his performance so far, we’ll see if he can keep it up the rest of the week.

Pacers to match Hibbert…well…sort of

Pacers to match Hibbert…well…sort of - Pacers CenterRoy Hibbert was set to sign an offer sheet in Portland worth somewhere between $54-58 million over four years. But this week the Pacers decided to match him, in a manner of speaking. In combined reporting efforts from The Indianapolis Star’s Mike Wells and TNT’s David Aldridge, it surfaced early yesterday that the Pacers...

Pacers make mysteriously non-sensical trade

Pacers make mysteriously non-sensical trade - Pacers CenterIt’s been a flurry of activity this evening. The Pacers, apparently high on French center Ian Mahinmi after having him in for a free agent visit last week, decided that rather than just signing him, they would…um…trade for him? This is especially curious given the players they gave up (Darren Collison, a former starter...

Miles Plumlee impressing in NBA Summer League

While some have expressed their doubts about the Indiana Pacers selecting Miles Plumlee with the 26th pick in the NBA draft, the only returns that matter are what the eldest son of Perky and Lisa Plumlee produce on the basketball court. So far, he has proved those doubters wrong. Miles put up 18 points and 8 rebounds for the Indiana Pacers yesterday and served up two facial dunks...

Eastern Conference : 3 Losers of the NBA Draft

Indiana: (26) Miles Plumlee, PF; (36) Orlando Johnson, SG Most of the 1st round had no shocking picks until the Pacers took Plumlee with the 26th pick in the 1st round. Plumlee is a beast in workouts because his strength and athletic ability really shows but when it’s game time you don’t see any of that. Last year at Duke he only averaged 6.6 points per game. Plumlee could be...

Breaking: Pacers add Augustin to fold with 1-year deal - Pacers CenterThe Indiana Pacers’ roster picture is coming into focus. Moments ago the Indianapolis Star’s Mike Wells tweeted that, according to a source, newly-renounced Charlotte Bobcats free agent point guard, D.J. Augustin, will sign a one year deal with Indiana.  The deal is reportedly worth $3.5 million. Just yesterday...

Miles Plumlee dunks over Fab Melo

It’s a slow sports day when I find myself posting highlights from the NBA summer league.  Anywho, in a fierce, nasty battle sleeper between the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics summer league teams, ex-Dukie/current Pacer Miles Plumlee showed former Syracuse/current Celtic headache Fab Melo that white men can indeed jump. Summer league teams are mostly comprised of guys who probably...

Pacers' offseason update #6: Hibbert to stay, Collison/Dahntay to go

This smelly offseason just took another turn for the Indiana Pacers and I am not sure what to make of it yet.First of all, Roy Hibbert is remaining a Pacer. That takes care of the biggest question mark this offseason for the Pacers. The Pacers decided to match (as I thought they would all along) and Portland dropped out completely. Roy will be Indiana's franchise center for the...

Pacers plan to match Hibbert offer sheet

Last week, the Portland Trailblazers caught everyone off guard when they made Pacers restricted free agent Roy Hibbert a max contract offer sheet.  For several days, the Pacers let everyone around the league wonder if they were going to match that offer sheet.  That suspense ended Monday when word came out of Indianapolis that the Pacers will offer Hibbert a contract similar to...

Mavericks acquire Collison, Jones from Pacers

DALLAS The Dallas Mavericks, establishing that 'Plan Keep Your Powder Dry' needn't be synonymous with 'inactivity,' followed up Wednesday's acquisition of Hornets center Chris Kaman with a trade with Indiana that brings to Dallas a starting point guard in Darren Collison and a rotation piece in Dahntay Jones. Following closely in the wake of the announcement...

Pacers' offseason update #7: Pacers sign Green, Augustin as expected

Okay. So now the Darren Collison/Dahntay Jones trade for Ian Mahinmi is starting to make a little more sense, at least from a personnel-shifting perspective. Whether it will translate to a better team remains to be seen. The Pacers have signed swingman Gerald Green (who last played for the Nets) and point guard DJ Augustin (who last played for the Bobcats). They must have secured...

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to a sign point guard DJ Augustin to a one year, $3.5 million contract according to a report from Mike Wells of the Indiana Star. Pacers Acquire Mahinmi In Deal With Mavericks For Collison, Jones

The Pacers have acquired Ian Mahinmi in a sign-and-trade agreement from Dallas in exchange for Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones.

HEY GRUNDWALD. PLEASE GET ON A FLIGHT AND TALK WITH DJ AUGUSTIN WHO WAS JUST RELEASED BY THE BOBCATS.

DJ AUGUSTINWith Kemba Walker taking over the Bobcats, they have found no room for DJ Augustin. Augustin is rumored to be signing with the Pacers but nothing is offical. Here is an opportunity for Grundwald to shine. Offer Augustin the same deal as LIN and let Houston have LIN. Everyone Knows Augustin is a pure young PG that would have much more an impact this season than LIN...
