Found January 31, 2013 on FootBasket:
NBA commissioner David Stern has announced Rajon Rondo’s replacement, and it was the right one. Brook Lopez, who surprisingly wasn’t named an All-Star by the league, will make it to Houston after all, according to NBA.com. Lopez will be replacing an injured Rondo, who is now out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. The 24-year-old is having his best season as a pro, averaging about 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 29 minutes per game.  The Brooklyn Nets currently have a record of 27-18, which is good enough for fourth in the Eastern Conference. Lopez has played a very big part of that. Not only are his numbers are impressive, his health has been better as well. The center has played in 38 of the team’s 45 games this season for the Nets. The Eastern Conference team is now going to have three centers off the bench in Joakim Noah, Tyson Chandler and Lopez. I definitely didn’t expect this decision out of Stern. It’s unusual of him to pick a center to replace a guard.

Celtics Win First Without Rondo 99-81

On Wednesday night the Celtics faced the Kings in what might have be the last time a Sacramento team comes to the TD Garden. The Celtics looked to begin the first chapter of their season without Rajon Rondo who was diagnosed with a torn ACL after pregame warm-ups Sunday. The Kings came to town amidst a potential relocation to Seattle and looked to get their second win over the Celtics...

Rajon Rondo’s Torn ACL Could Force Celtics to Shuffle Players at Trade Deadline

For much of the 2012-13 season, it appeared as though the Boston Celtics might be able to hang on to their spot among the Eastern Conference’s elite, that no longer seems to be the case. Not on the NBA moneyline, at least, where their odds of winning the NBA championship have dipped to 30-1. This, we’ll remind you, is a team whose been a mainstay within the NBA futures’ top...

Realization Time for the Boston Celtics

My exact face when I found out Rajon Rondo was out for the season. It is time my friends, time to say good-bye to this current Celtics group, and start to realize that the quest for 18 this season is over. Possibly, even out for a while. After Rajon Rondo tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, I realized, we just aren't that good, and heck, we should have realized that after...

Celtics Roll Over Magic, Move To 3-0 Post-Rondo

Celtics 97, Magic 84 A Celtics team that is reeling from injuries was fortunate enough to match up against an Orlando Magic squad that came into Friday Night’s game having lost 18 of their last 20. Boston (23-23) pulled away with a 14-4 run to begin the fourth quarter and ended up winning by double-digits for the second consecutive game. Inevitably, this will only fuel the...

Mets' Lopez replaces Rondo on All-Star team

Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez will replace injured Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo on the Eastern Conference roster for the All-Star Game, the league announced Wednesday. This will be Lopez's first All-Star Game, and he will be the only representative from the Nets, who are 27-18. Rondo was named an All-Star starter based on the fans' vote, but he is out for the rest...

JR Smith unhappy with second snub

When Rajon Rondo went down for the season, the Knicks guard thought he had a real shot to be named as his All-Star replacement, but alas, it just was not meant to be.

RedsArmy presents: Fan Friday #39: “Family Affair”

I had the pleasure of meeting Ica, this week’s featured fan, and her family at last Sunday’s Celtics-Heat game. It was Ica’s first ever time to TD Garden and what a game she got to watch! It was somewhat bittersweet for her, as Rajon Rondo, her favorite Celtic, missed the game due to a season-ending ACL injury. But Ica did not let that dampen her spirits-she still enjoyed cheering...

Stern chooses Nets' Lopez for All-Star spot

MILWAUKEE The door that had opened for Brandon Jennings to make the All-Star Game has been slammed shut. NBA commissioner David Stern has picked Brooklyn center Brook Lopez to replace injured Boston point guard Rajon Rondo on the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Jennings was not chosen initially when the reserves were announced last Thursday but seemed to be one of the favorites...

Boston 99, Sacramento 81 - All-Around Effort Pushes Celtics Past Kings

The Boston Celtics came out with a whole lot more than vengeance on their minds. Still, in the end, that is what they got. Playing their first game with the weight of the knowledge that Rajon Rondo will not be returning this season, the Celtics avenged an embarrassing defeat by dispatching the Sacramento Kings, 99-81. Exactly one month ago, the Celtics visited Sacramento and left...

Podcast: Don’t Call It A Comeback

Today we talked about Rajon Rondo's knee injury and how it impacts the Celtics, Toronto making another push for Rudy Gay, Wayne Ellington finding out he got traded after waking up from a nap, what players got snubbed from the All-Star game and Kobe Bryant being a facilitator.

Why we know nothing about the Celtics new starting five, and why that might be a good thing

As we sit here on January 30th, there are very few unknowns on the NBA landscape. After all, the season is three months old, and most teams have played anywhere from 42 to 47 games thus far. Every one of the 30 NBA teams has advanced scouts that know just about every potential line-up that a team could throw on the floor at any time, and how to defend said line-up. In the year 2013...

Next man up: Boston Celtics breeze by Orlando Magic 97-84

With tonight’s victory over the Orlando Magic the Celtics have won three in a row and clawed their way back to .500. Forgive me if I’m not all sunshine and duck boats, but I don’t think wins over the Sacramento Kings and the Orlando Magic (without Glen Davis and Aaron Afflalo!) tell us anything about where this team stands after the loss of Rajon Rondo (and now Jared Sullinger...

Celtics 97, Magic 84

By Mike Shalin, The Sports Xchange BOSTON -- The short-handed Celtics won their third straight game Friday night, cruising to a 97-84 victory over the woeful Magic. Five days after he and his team learned Rajon Rondo would be lost for the season, rookie Jared Sullinger underwent back surgery and also will be lost for the year. But after beating Miami in double overtime Sunday...

BY JIM HAGUE NEW YORK -- Brook Lopez scored 20 points and MarShon Brooks provided a huge lift off the bench with 13, leading the Brooklyn Nets to a come-from-behind 93-89 victory over the undermanned Chicago Bulls Friday night at the Barclays Center. The win was just the second in their last five games for the Nets (28-17), while the Bulls (28-19) fell for only the second time...
