Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images LeBron James owes his fans one shot at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. All of the all-time greats have participated in this contest. James even told TNT analyst Cheryl Miller in 2009 he would enter the contest, only to back out months later. Is James simply afraid? I believe he is. James feels he has everything to lose and nothing to gain. The last time James participated in a dunk contest was before the McDonald’s All-American Game in 2003, when he edged out Shannon Brown and Von Wafer. For those who watched the contest, it was pretty obvious James did not deserve the win. The contest was held in Cleveland and James was the overwhelming crowd-favorite. James even admitted looking back on it that he was the hometown star and was probably given the nod. James has always been self-conscious of his image. He even wears a double headband to hide his receding hairline. The complete media fall-out of  ”The Decision” and him proclaiming himself a champion before winning a title made him one of the most hated players in the league. James does not want to be the villain, it’s not his personality. Perhaps James thinks he will blow it and lose to a Kenneth Faried or some other lesser known player? James could win the contest on presence alone. Maybe he could use John Lucas III as one of his props. I would pay to see James leap over him again. King James needs to participate in the contest. Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Julius Erving, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Vince Carter and other all-time great players capable of an aerial assault have willingly participated and all won the contest. James, reportedly, has interest in participating in the three-point shooting contest. But please, step up to the plate and enter the dunk contest. James is arguably the most athletically-gifted player we have ever seen, and with his creativity, I believe he could put on a show at the dunk contest. Win or lose, a dunk contest featuring LeBron James could be potentially a once in a lifetime viewing experience.

LeBron downplays MJ comparisons

LeBron James is on a remarkable run but took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his thoughts on how people so often try to compare him to Michael Jordan.

Lebron James Says Don’t Compare Him to Michael Jordan

To even be in the Michael Jordan discussion you need at least three rings. Until then there is really nothing to talk about. Lebron is having a great stretch of games and he is totally locked into Optimus Bron mode, but none of that matters. Bron’s legacy will depend on how much jewelry he has when it is all said and done. From a practice sense, they aren’t the same type of player...

LeBron James makes NBA history, can he live?

LeBron James is having a history making season. He’s accomplishing things that we’ve never seen before as basketball fans. For an NBA record six games, LeBron has scored 30 or more on 60% shooting. There was a four game stretch during this same time frame that LeBron was at 75% shooting. Let that marinate for a second. Check out a few highlights from Heat vs. Blazers LeBron...

LeBron James alley-oop from Norris Cole

LeBron James: 32 points, finished 12-of-18, became the third player in NBA history to score 30+ points and shoot 60% from the field in five straight games. The Heat won all five of those games, increasing their lead in the Eastern Conference

The Miami Heats’ Lebron James and Russell Westbrook named Players of the Week.

The king, is king yet again.

LeBron responds to Michael Jordan comparisons

LeBron seems to have gotten pretty irritated of the Jordan comparisons before tweeting this.   I’m not MJ, I’m LJ — LeBron James (@KingJames)

Stan Van Gundy: “Lebron James is Already Better Than Michael Jordan”

I know what Stan Van Gundy was trying to say when he made this quote on the Dan Le Batard Show.  It is very simple, he is simply saying at this point in his career, Lebron is a more skilled player than Michael Jordan. That part of it is based in some truth, mainly because I don’t think we have ever seen anyone as skilled and physically gifted as Lebron. He is some crazy hybrid...

James' brilliance makes Wade forgotten man

MIAMI -- Remember Dwyane Wade? He's the guy who once made People magazine's list of the world's 50 most beautiful people, once starred in cell phone commercials with Charles Barkley and once was one of the best players in the NBA. Well, he's still one of the best. It's just he's dropped far enough behind Miami Heat teammate LeBron James that he sometimes...

'King' of the 'Alamo City'

A team’s success is based on the system, and how well the pieces fit together, as they are on the level of  talent.  As the Lakers have shown on two separate occasions, simply getting a group of future Hall of Fame players does not necessarily ensure success (see 2003 – 2004 season and the current rosters). As Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili’s time in a San Antonio Spurs...

LeBron and Dwayne Wade Catch the Ballet Bug

Like poetry in motion T… The Miami Heat superstars are embracing a new passion. Ballet. Yes, ballet. Our friends over at Gossip Extra tipped us off to the new promotional campaign for the famed Miami City Ballet. The campaign centers around the downtown institutions’ shared 25th anniversary, and draws parallels between ballet and basketball. “What those ladies do, as far as...

The Celtics Continue To Ruin My Life

More Snow, Please It's such a fun year in the Asso- ciation, people. LeBron James and Kevin Durant have both taken their games up another notch, which seemed more or less impossible last year; it's not too much of a stretch to say that they might be authoring the two best individual seasons in league history right now. The Knicks, of all teams, turned into a sharing and...

Lakers can't keep up with Heat

MIAMI (AP) -- LeBron James scored 32 points on 12-for-18 shooting in a record-setting show, Dwyane Wade scored 30 and the Miami Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-97 on Sunday for their fifth straight win. It was James' fifth straight game with at least 30 points, a franchise record. He's shot better than 60 percent in all five of those games. Mario Chalmers scored 13...

Philly Loves Jrue Holiday (Part 2 of 4)

The Sixers have gone through their up's and down's all season long, including last night. Although the Wells Fargo Center struggles to fill up when the team hits the court, we still love them. The most beloved Sixer may be the obvious choice, but it is true. If you are a Sixers fan, whether you go to the games or not, you love Jrue Holiday. Sure he is no Lebron James, sure...

Bill's Combine Research: Defensive Line I

We continue with Part 3 of a series so popular that two NFL scouts have subscribed this week. Leading off with BYU's potential-packed Ziggy Ansah, a native of Ghana who wanted to be the next LeBron James, here are 27 of the 54 defensive linemen who will be testing at the Scouting Combine.
