5 Reasons to Hate the Spurs

I'm just doing this article to answer an old question: Why so much people hate the San Antonio Spurs? Calm down people, this is just MY OPINION, just like a lot of people hate the Lakers and the Celtics. So please if you don't agree, just take a comment saying why.

1- BRUCE BOWEN - The unique way to like Bruce Bowen is being blind or a Spurs Fan. There are so many videos with dirty plays from Bruce Bowen that you can collect them all like trading cards. His hobby is hurt the other players. He collects more twisted foots than Angelina Jolie collects babies. One of the best things Isiah Thomas did for the Knicks was discussing with Bowen when he twisted Francis's Ankle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdxXvkMB6gA&feature=related).

But, a lot of people think Bowen is a very good player, nobody knows how to defend him. And I agree. He is a talented man when we talk about defense, twist ankles, kick, punch the others and escape from the official's whistle. Last year when we got Spurs x Suns, i was really sorry about Nash. The way he was tortured by Bowen when he got the ball was horrible! Bruce gives little punches in all the players with the ball, until they get really mad and discuss with him.

The other 4 reasons I will be posting in the next days ok! Thanks, and please leave a comment :D

I might be taking some wind out of your sails, but if you really want to know about "why to hate the Spurs," Paul Shirley pretty much summed it up for everybody last year:

"I can't imagine how anyone could root for the Spurs. It would be like cheering for cancer. Of course, they're really effective (unfortunately, so is cancer), but I don't know if a roster of such easily disliked basketball players has ever been assembled. Tim Duncan might be one of the greatest players of all time, but the constant bug-eyed complaints and the mumps-cheeks make him borderline unwatchable. Manu Ginóbili was one of my favorites when he played in Italy. Here, he seems determined to bring a soccer-style sissification of basketball—along with a strong belief in the power of the bald spot—to our shores. Tony Parker looks like Gargamel. And everybody knows that Gargamel is evil. Bruce Bowen's dirty play is well-documented; his resemblance to Mr. Potato Head isn't. Oberto plays like a dump truck, Elson couldn't get off the bench when I played in Spain four years ago, and Robert Horry—while a hell of a good guy—seems to consistently play on my least favorite teams and then help those teams win in dramatic fashion. The only guy I find remotely interesting is Brent Barry. And while most of my affection for him is derived from his go-to-hell attitude and his unique skill set, I fear that some of it comes from his status as a white American in the NBA."

You missed the main reason to hate the SPURS!!!! In 1996-97 they threw there whole season and benched david robinson with a ankle injury!!! They had the worst record in basketball...and got the number one pick in the 97-98 draft !!!! We had number 2!!!!! we ended up with vanhorn which we traded for tony park and tim thomas!!!! the #7,#25.... Because vanhorn refused to play for us!!!! The next year robinson was magically healed!! and they won a title!!!!!! That is BS!!!DUNCAN SHOULD BE A 76ER!!!!

They did not have the worst record in the NBA that year. They were pretty bad (20-62), but not the worst. The Celtics were 15-67, and the Grizzlies were 14-68, although they were ineligible for the first pick. If anything, the Celtics are the ones who should claim Tim Duncan, not the Sixers. Then again, Ricky didn't handle not getting the top pick well; he drafted Chauncey Billups then gave up on him before the season ended, and signed Travis Knight to big bucks while renouncing almost the entire team in the process.

So, yes, the Spurs were lucky in that they won the lottery, but please get your other facts straight. ;-)

WOW!!!Sorry!!! ... I was going on what I remembered not the draft fact sheets of the internet.. I am sure I could go on the internet next time and give upto the minute information!!! The fact is the Spurs threw there season to pick Duncan!! The best number 1 pick in the 90's!! The 76er's picked second and got stuck with Van Horn. Not first second we did not teh throw the season because we were bad!!! So lets see I am looking on line now so I can give you the acurate information ...
In 96/97 the year before Duncan they were 59-23 pretty good...the year they threw the season they were 20-62... The 76ers had 22 wins ...

You can only come up with 5 reasons to hate the Spurs??!?

lol...Good one daveyfie!!!!!+1

I present - the most annoying couple in the NBA....

Eva is the loudest Spurs fans in the NBA.

i am gonna go as far to say most annoying couple on the planet

Good catch!!!

There is one good reason to like the spurs in my book. They are working on the Suns!!! Gotta love that.

I've already made the Part II of this article.

The reason I like the Spurs is because they're a brotherhood, they stick up for eachother, and also, they get it done, they don't have to be flashy or anything, they just do what they have to do to win games.

How can youhate bruce???? He pretty much single handedly shut down LeBron James last year in the Finals, yet James is treated like he's the best thing since the universe came into existence. All this Spurs-bashing comes around the playoffs when the Spurs show what defense and a no excuses attitude can do.

How about some things to hate about the Suns, or more specifically their fans? I have never heard more booing in my life than during the playoffs at the US airways center. SUNS FANS WERE BOOING THEIR OWN TEAM FOR PETES SAKE. And then when the Suns don't win, they make up some fanciful story about how Stern is in cohouts with the Spurs and the refs were all bribed. And then they start firing management. What a team. <_<

Being a Dallas fan, I have a lot of respect for the Spurs, but it's the rivalry thing that fuels any hate of the team itself. Can't deny they are the team of the decade right now. If they win this title, what else is anyone going to say? After the Hornets disentegrated my team, I hope the Spurs lay it to them. Should be an interesting series with Parker vs Paul. They play in a small TV market, so nobody wants to give them any credit for what they have accomplished. I hate Bown with a passion, but they just keep on winning and he had the biggest play of the game at the end last night without hurting anyone.

I hate Utah much more than the Spurs, with that little b!tch Deron Williams

You speak the truth, tc.

LOL......Deron is from this area, so I'm not going to trash him too much. He's the main reason Utah has remained a good team. Going to be interesting to see who can knock off the Lakers.

Gonna be interesting to see if anybody can come close to knocking off the lakers... hope they cant!!

I agree with you, the Spurs is this decade, but a lot of people hate them and I'm just showing the principal reasons about the hating. :D

the spurs are the team of this decade*

The Spurs will eventually fall because of Duncan and Ginobili retiring, and low draft picks, but for some reason, I think they'll find some guy overseas that no one knows about and become a good team again. Hopefully, that won't happen.

Spurs just have a good organization. They always have. That contributes to the winning tradition.

Yeah, I agree. They don't freak out like some teams do when they're down, which allows them to get the best shot possible in most situations.
