The San Antonio Spurs (19-8) will return to action tonight as they host the New Orleans Hornets (5-20) at the AT&T Center and end a two-game losing streak. Tonight's game will also mark the return of Kawhi Leonard for San Antonio after he was dealing with a bout of tendonitis. The Spurs won the first matchup 99-95 at New Orleans on the Spurs opening night. Tim Duncan led San Antonio with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks while Tony Parker notched 23 points and 6 assists. Anthony Davis paced the Hornets with 21 points and 7 rebounds. For the Spurs, they are coming off a 112-106 loss to the Nuggets where Duncan finished with 31 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 blocks, 2 steals, 9-of-10 free throws, and just 2 turnovers in 40 minutes of play. For the Hornets, they are coming off a 93-77 loss to the Clippers with Robin Lopez scoring a season-high 22 points and Anthony Davis finished with 16 points. With the loss, the Hornets have now lost 9-games in a row. And as these two Southwest Division foes get set to square off, here are five things to watch for during the game: • The Hornets are averaging 88.1 points their current 9-game losing streak. • The Hornets have lost three games in a row in San Antonio. • The Spurs have the highest assists/FGM ratio in the NBA with a .642 ratio. • The Spurs are fifth in points in the paint per game with 45.8 points per game. • As a starter, Tiago Splitter is averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in five games.
