To me Aaron Brooks response to a question after his Rockets won game six of their series against the Lakers was the best off the court moment of the NBA playoffs. The question was along the lines of Nobody has given you guys a chance all series. How do you take that into game seven? And Brooks shrugged his shoulders, smiled, and said "We still have no chance" before running into the locker room while high fiving Houston fans on his way.

  • I'de laugh my a$$ off if they beat LA and it would serve them right.
  • I have lived in Houston since 1984, and even when the Rockets WON two championships with Barkley Drexler and Olajuwon, they have necer been given the credit they deserve. I was soooooo pissed, having to listen to Costas and Walton bash them the whole way through the series i wanted to jump through the tv and choke them. I don't know if they will win against the Lakers, and i hope they do, as they have showed that they can!
  • barkley never won a championship
  • my bad........he was not part of "Clutch City"
  • It was RIP CITY, not CLUTCH CITY. Thanks for playing though.
  • barkley has never won a championship
  • yea, I remember when Houston beat my Knicks...they had my respect and hate that year.
  • They weren't given credit because MJ was too busy playing baseball...If Houston beat Jordan and the bulls, then that would be a different story but Houston lucked out on the fact that Jordan retired
  • It would be the story of the playoffs if the Lakers fell to Houston without Yao in the lineup. Good reason for celebration. Kobe........do you want Shaq back???
  • been a long time, and You know why...hope all is well, as You once again, make the best point on here...and announcement!!: I WILL ALWAYS BB' back, when I occasionaly jump on here against any crappy Eagle Fan!!
  • *always have BB's back
  • For a guy who seems to do his talking on the court,do not be mislead by this statement. At game they will there to the very end.
  • Kobe, or A-rod clone, why does it take 7 games to MAYBE beat a YAO-Less Rocket Team...where's all the crap talk about the Celtics, too...IF U get by Denver, Cleveland is going to sweep the crap out of You, ala 2008 BLUE-Collar Boston Style, a thourough beatdown...You LA Sissies!!

Lakers Lack Heart Of A Champion

Fourteen years ago, then-Rockets (and future Lakers) head coach Rudy Tomjanovic reminded us to never underestimate the heart of a champion. Well, the 2009 Lakers won't be champions because they lack the heart. For about a week, I've heard all the crap about the Lakers not having that killer instinct to win the title. How they couldn't stomp out a team when they were down...

Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Championship Rings Muppets, Commercial

Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Championship Rings Muppets, Commercial. It is so close, but I think this is better than the Kobe, LeBron, Muppets Chalk Nike Commercial. Every person that is working on this ad campaign deserves a raise. Nike is … THE BEST.

Nike LeBron-Kobe Puppet Commercial “Chalk” (Video)

Why is LeBron James so much happier in this commercial than Kobe Bryant? Because Kobe’s been there, done that? No. Because LeBron’s team is actually winning, unlike the team of a certain No. 24. (hat tip: First Cuts)

The NBA Has Two Game 7 Matches On The Way, Who Will Win?

The Lakers are looking weak for letting the series go to game 7 when the Rockets don’t have McGrady or Yao Ming. If they do advance can they handle the Nuggets? A look at the Celtics vs Magic game 6 is below. Celtics vs Magic Game 6 Recap

Why The NBA Needs The Houston Rockets To Beat The L.A. Lakers

ome on, Houston, do it for Golden State. For Bryce Drew. Hey, for Yao Ming. No, don’t do it for that team, or that college player everyone has forgotten. Don’t even do it for your center—who can never manage to finish a playoff run. And definitely don’t do it for Tracy McGrady. Do it for the NBA. Do it for [...]

ROCKETS REFUSE TO GO QUIETLY, FORCE GAME 7

Both teams from last year’s NBA Finals couldn’t close the book on their respective conference semifinal opponents. The Lakers, fresh off of drubbing the Rockets by 40 points on Tuesday night, found themselves trailing the Rockets for most of the game behind more clutch shooting from Aaron Brooks and a fine defensive effort from Shane [...]

Rockets Ball Screens Create Havoc for Lakers

The Lakers continued their inconsistent play last night, falling behind big, coming back to almost tie, then falling flat in the 4th quarter. One thing that stuck out in my mind in the 4th quarter was how many times the Rockets ran the same play over and over, Aaron Brooks off a Luis Scola ball screen and Brooks scoring or dishing over and over. The Lakers did not change a single...

Kobe Bryant misplaced his championship rings

These Nike muppet commercials featuring Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are really entertaining. “The Chalk” ad was great, but this “Three Rings” one was even better. I wonder what video game LBJ is trying to play? David Alan Grier is the voice of Kobe, who is the voice of Lebron? -H/T NESW Sports

Comparing Wade Version 2009 to Bryant Version 2006

Can he regain his spot among the league's elite players after suffering an injury-riddled campaign? Can he win without Shaq? How much MVP consideration should be given to a dominant player whose team won fewer than 50 games? If those questions sound familiar, it is because they have been asked twice in the past three years--and about two different players. My newest article for...

Phil Jackson Drops F-Bomb

Good to see that I wasn’t the only one dropping F-bombs after the Lakers’ latest loss. Check out Phil Jackson’s slip from yesterday’s Lakers-Rockets post-game press conference. He’s right; Aaron Brooks did put on a helluva show yesterday. Shane Battier, too. (hat tip: Total Pro Sports)

The Element of Suprise

Okay, so here we are on Friday, a day after the Lakers lost a very important game but learned a very important lesson. The one thing that stands out about this particular matchup is how much people were expecting the Lakers to trounce Houston. This is way before Mutumbo and Ming even got injured. Everyone pretty much wrote off Houston once they heard they were facing my home town...

Upset Alert Sunday

The NBA has an interesting Sunday in store for them. Both game seven's, and one very intriguing match-up between the Lakers and Rockets. The Lakers deserve to lose this series. There should be no game seven when Yao Ming is out. Give all the credit in the world to the Rockets and their coach Rick Adelman for giving the Lakers a challenge. Even if the Lakers win game seven, they...

Lakers Confused by So-Called "Game 7"

By Will CavedoSportsonastick.comMay 15, 2009 Kobe Bryant and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers recently admitted that they were completely stymied by the existence of a so-called "Game 7" in the NBA's Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. The revelation of this previously unknown basketball contest seemingly startled the entire Lakers organization and had everyone involved...
