Manny Pacquiao with his best Braveheart impersonation
Heads Up : Scotsbox1

As if Manny Pacquiao isn't already amazing, here's another reason to like him :

His ability to forgive and progress.

From all accounts, the Philippines is a nation whose society is heavily characterized by clear demarcations in class, status and inequality of wealth. Manny Pacquiao came from the bottom rung of that ladder.

Many people develop chips on their shoulders as they rise from rags to riches, getting ready to stick a finger at the establishment at a moment's notice. And many of those people start out at less of a disadvantage than what the Pac-Man had to overcome.

It takes a truly great man to put aside all the old beefs, forgive and forget, and move on with business like Manny Pacquiao has done. He has united a people and embraced the young and old, rich and poor, male and female. All without pretense.

That, my friend, is special - and another reason to like Manny Pacquiao.

P.S. Two months ago, I thought boxing was dead. However, what has been happening lately has me thinking otherwise. If you have been watching the NBA Playoffs, you probably have heard broadcasters (i.e. Kenny Smith, Jon Barry) throwing the Pac-Man's name left and right, comparable these postseason battles to Pacquiao-Hatton.

This is an indication that Pacquiao has seaped into and will continue to stay relevant in the conscious of the mainstream as long as Pacquiao is at the top of his game.

P.P.S. Speaking of a boxing comeback, Golden Boy's upcoming Fight Night Club, featuring live, nationally televised fights (on air and online) featuring the latest prospects shows promise, not because the show itself is guaranteed to be a success - but because it shows that Oscar De La Hoya cares about the sport.
