Isiah Thomas commented on the brawl after the game, and he best summed up what happened on the court. You should listen to his post-game press on ESPN Motion.

Thomas is a prick who caused the incident. Sure Carmelo should have been on the bench but "embarrassing the opposition" does not make it ok to start a brawl. Thomas should have been fired years ago.

nice sucker punch carmelo, pussy

horrible. sickening.

You cant let a teammate get sucker punched. I commend all the players for sticking up for each other. But...it should have never happened in the first place.

As a Knicks fan, I'm happy. The Ewing Oakley teams used to get in a brawl every other week, and it brought them together as a team. Since the Pacers-Pistons melee, everyone wants to see NBA fights as this awful thing. They used to happen all the time in the mid-90's. This fight will make the team better.

unfortunately, there's gonna be some fat suspensions doled out, some predicting up to 30 games.

PJ Brown sent a gift and a note saying, "he regretted missing the event."

So did Jeff Van Gundy

"We had surrendered, those guys shouldn't even be in the game at that point in time."
That's Zeke's quote.
And some wonder why the Knicks are horrible

Isiah Thomas only gets stupider: "They were having their way with us," Thomas said. "I think J.R. Smith had just made one dunk when he reversed and spun in the air. And I think Mardy didn't want our home crowd to see that again. So he fouled him."

I'm sorry, is he trying to justify it?

i don't see how people are blaming this on Isiah. He didn't start it. What is a coach to do?

Yeah he did make some stupid comments afterward but still

we aren't blaming it on isiah. not by a long shot. it was clearly collins, jr smith, robinson, and melo's fault. They really started it with the teammates joining in. But Isiah kinda shrugged it off and basically condoned it that they were down and Collins wasn't out of line doing it. A good coach wouldn't accept any type of fighting on the court. He probably told Collins to do it, if anything.

I agree with Starbury. Carmelo Anthony is supposed to be a superstar, so he should be the first one walking away from a fight. Second of all, the fight wasn't that bad. It wasn't "horrible" or "sickening." It was just a skirmish. It happens in all sports. Don't forget that Magic tried to choke Larry Bird once.

yea. while it was pretty bad and punches were thrown, it could have potentially been worse.

here's Melo's apology: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2700724 He wants you to know, he's a good boy afterall
