Boston.com reports the Celtics have announced that they have signed free agent forward Darius Miles. Our T.J. Donegan had this to say a few weeks back in his linkz of the week. Darius Miles Puts Acting Career On Hold, Could Play In Green Ian Thomsen writes a great Inside the NBA column-esque thing for SI.com and he has a really good piece on Darius Miles, the former high school standout and Clippers first-round-pick who injured his knee two years ago and had his injury deemed "career-end...

Wow I didnt think that any team would take a chance on him....but that just shows I was wrong. But wont he have to miss the first 10 games of the season????
  • Yes Darius will be suspended the first 10 games. 2 different doctors deemed Mile's injury career ending. I'm not really shocked Ainge signed him, to get even with the Blazers. I think this decision will end up back firing on Ainge though. Miles is a cancer to any organization. The Celtics lost a lot of credibility with this move.
  • I think the opposite is going to be true here. Is he really a cancer? No I dont think so, he may of had a bad time or bad coach in the past, but having to sit out 2 years and being told your career is done, will do alot to a person. Another reason I believe he will be a model citizen is he has signed on with a veteran team, a championship team and a team that has his idol playing for it, in KG. If his knee holds up and I hope for him and the C's it does then Ainge's stock will rise once again. Good luck Mr Miles

No- I live in Portland. I follow the team very closely. He is a cancer.

But even cancers can go into remission.
And if you mean by "model citizen," "won't get caught," you could be right.

Oh yeah, and he should have been better after a year. Blazer beat writers all said he was sitting on his ass eating fast food and playing PS3. He gained a lot of weight which delayed his recovery.

Wow, I'm truly shocked by this news.

I remember a YB friend of mine talking about how Darius did a lot of off the court work for the Portland community and never got any publicity for it. I don't really think he's a bad guy, but I wont deny he has made some bad choices in his past. He ruined his reputation here in Portland but maybe he can turn things around with the Celtics.

I'm glad that he's getting a shot at a second chance.
Hopefully he does well in Boston.

Brit- you shouldn't want him to ever play again- if he plays 10 games in either of the next two seasons, he counts against Portland's salary cap. That salary of his is big, and that would cramp their ability to sign free agents or to resign existing players. . .

And then what, the Blazers dream is over? LOL...If we didn't sign another player the Blazers are still on track to have a big 4 or 5 stars on the team. We don't need to sign anyone, that's just the cherry on top. Blazers really can't lose. There's always a bright side to look at no matter the predicament the Blazers get in. It's impossible to box KP into a corner. There are always options that he is exploring and doors he is opening to make Portland better.

uhhhhhhhh. . . no. But every bit helps. Every penny of cap cash KP has to resign the big three helps. And there was no doom and no gloom in anything I wrote.

I wish no ill will on Flavor Flav's NBA clone. However, I do not understand why people jump to his defense. He has not changed behaviors for any of the NBA clubs that have taken a chance on him- and Boston will not be any different. However, I don't fault the Celt's- they get him for a bargain price at my Trail Blazers expense. Not too worried about the cap room after seeing Rudy Fernandez in the Gold Medal game posterizing Dwight Howard. We will be fine and Danny can poison his team and over inflated Pierce-Ego. Good luck Darius "Flavor FLAVVVVV" Miles.

Funny thing about all this is that it doesn't even really phase the Blazers. If he plays and they have to pay his salary on the tax the Blazers still have a amazing future. Oden, Rudy, and Bayless being added to a great team already. If anything this is just bad for the Celtics signing a player that is probably going to cause problems and get hurt again. Blazers are set, nothing can get in the way.

I totally agree! Good luck Darius. We are pleased with what we have.

Well now RoseCity07...knock on wood or something! Injuries have been known to change a teams season.

I totally agree with you, the Blazers are set as of right now. Everybody just needs to stay healthy.
