Brand to Warriors and other Nba Rumours

Goldenstate fresh off of losing PG Baron Davis has offered Brand a monster contract, a five year deal worth in the 85 to 90 million range, this is substatntially more than the Clippers can offer, approx 20 million.

This move certainly signals that the Warriors must believe that Gilbert Arenas is going to sign and stay in Washington as they had also offered Arenas a max deal.

Gerald Green dunk contest phenom and straight from high school player has signed a one year deal with the Mav's, Gerald has moved around alot and is seen to have Tmac like potential but as yet has come no where close to living up to it.

James Posey is being pursued by Boston, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit after opting out.

Corey Magette is getting several looks, teams that have contact him include, Orlando, Boston, Utah, San Antonio and Miami, he personally would love to go back to Orlando and the team plans to offer a mult-year deal at their mid-level exception. Other teams may be able to offer Corey a little more money so it will be interesting how this plays out.

Tyronn Lue chose Dallas over Phoenix last year when he was waived by Sacramento; Phoenix wanted the PG then and they want him now, Steve Kerr is trying to get the player signed to backup Nash.

Jarvis Hayes is being pursued by both the Suns and the Spurs; he is thought to have a game much like James Posey, can score, can defend and makes good decisions with the ball.

Chris Duhon, has met with the Knicks and has scheduled a visit with Orlando I'd look for a decision by mid-week.

Brent Barry is high on both the Suns and Lakers free-agency wish lists.

Ron Artest believes he made a mistake not opting out, speaking very candidly on the subject yesterday, I'd look for him to get moved, he has an expiring contract and some value.

Josh Smith is meeting with Philly today to talk about possibly signing there.

Houston rockets have offered their mid level exception to Brent Barry.

Sebastian Telfair is being pursued by both the Knicks and Heat, interesting if he ends up in NY, Marbury's cousin as his replacement?

Marbury might be an interesting free agent if he gets bought, a lot of skill, also alot of issues, but i still think he could help the right team.

I'm pretty sure davis's deal is only 65 mil.

I'm dying to hear what the offer for Smith will be...somebody on the inside, bark!

The deal I quoted was offered to brand by Gstate , sorry for the confusion

Sixers have 11 million in salary cap space and could offer a 5 year deal at 11 million per, his agent a few minutes ago "Everything is going good. He's enjoying his time here," said Smith's agent, Wallace Prowther. "They seem to like him. They seem to be genuine."

Expect an offer sheet to be signed by Friday, then the pressure will go back on ATL to see if they match

I say the warriors try to pick up starburry for dirt cheap because no one wants him anymore with his baggage and his and1 style will flourish under don nelson and sign elton brand that will compensate for the loss of boom dizzle.

Hey nice idea Donnie may be just the guy to get something out of Starbury, your very right in saying that run-n-gun style suits his game, and because he will get a nice payday from being bought out it's not like he'll need big money. Just the kind of high risk high reward the Warriors are known for, eg. Chris Webber last year.

After losing Boom I pray that Elton Brand sees that the Warriors have better pieces then the Clippers do. I dont know what type of player Brand is though. Is he a player for money or for teammates? I read in an article that he and Baron are good friends and that he is willing to take less money if the Clippers sign a good free agent. The question is how much less money is he talking about.

Great point, Elton Brand and Baron Davis are good friends and have co-financed a movie together but NBA basketball is a professional sport and business is a very big part of that, the added security of 20 million is no joke! Can Brand walk away from that? The Warriors have a nice returning core and assuming they resign Monta Ellis, they would have a good team.

What would you do with Al Harrington then??

Al Harrington was used as a sixth man alot last year and in the playoff series against Dallas when the Warriors shocked the world. He has always been a combo sort of small-power forward I'd play him at the SF he is a very good shooter and passer and that seems like a more natural position for him given his skill set. Of course rotationally I'd ask him to cover PF and play the post himself, similar in a sense to the way the Suns use Diaw except he would spend less time with his back to the basket offensively.

Al Harrington is TERRIBLE. Basically a 6'11" shooting guard. Plays soft, like Charmin. Can only score in bunches if you keep feeding him the ball. Can't create. Defensively suspect. Not to mention a drain against the salary cap, overpaid.

they should trade him for a point guard that can run run run

I would laugh my ass off if EBrand got picked up by the Norcal Clips...I mean Warriors. Karma. They are gonna duke it out for 8th seed in the West.

It would be ironic to see Brand land in Gstate after Davis moved to the Clipps, really nicely played by Mullin the Warrios fans got to love his making the nest of this, after losing out on Davis offer Arenas a max deal then after your confident he will stay in Washington, switch targets to Brand. I'm curious as to why they came in low to Davis? they are currently saying they always knew he was leaving but still weird especially given the fact they pffered Arenas max money and he is coming off two serious knee injuries.

As for Al I don't disagree tho your assesment is a little harsh, I don't love the Power Forward that plays like a guard but as a reserve he has alot of value, he was sixth man on a Pacers team that looked like it could win it all, and on a Warriors team that shocked Dallas, used as a spark he cen be very competiive, albeit seemingly overpaid.

actually i tohught jamison was signed by the warriors lol then theyd have arenas in a second, and its kinda retarded the clips will basically have the guard combo g state had and g state will have the strong backfield the clips hav it ironic lol

If maggette went to boston, where would he fit in the starting line-up

Good Question, I'd see him starting at the SF with Paul Pierce then starting at the SG and Ray Allen coming off the bench, Ray had a great Finals but struggled through the latter half of the season and playoffs. Otherwise Magette comes off the bench, which is one of the reasons he left the Clippers. Is Magette prepared to be less selfish? I don't think so, he probably will resign elsewhere.

Does anyone else think he would be a great fit with the Hornets? starting him ahead of Mo Pete, gives them a real nice backcourt.

i hope that brand stays with the clippers b/c they got bd for him and to leave to the team that just let bd go will be wrong for the clippers and baron davis

Now that it's been reported that Brand opted out in hopes the Clippers would sign a free agent PG and he would base his decision heavily on their ability to do so, plus the fact he himself recommended they try to get Davis, really sets him to be a Carlos Boozer level backstabber should he leave the Clipps after they did exactly as he asked.

the warriors arent gonna get brand, were gonna get maggette

Good lord, the last thing the Dubs need is Corey Maggette. They've got plenty of players at the SG/SF types. They need a banger who can run the floor in Nellie's system. It's pretty clear that the Warriors front office did not believe that Baron would leave $17 mil on the table and opt-out. Their "max deal" offer to Gilbert was just a way to try and save face to show that they are willing to spend money. If the Dubs wouldn't sign Baron for a multi-year contract, what makes anyone think that their offer to Gilbert is anything but front-office smoke and mirrors. It would be nice if they could pick up Elton, but honestly, I'm betting he stays with the Clips. Elton, Kaman, Davis, Al Thornton, and Cuttino Mobley -- that ain't a half bad starting five. Oh, and the Dubs still need a PG. Monta is more like a combo guard.

I think your right Gstate doesn't need another wing, you have a couple of good ones some low post scoring would be nice to copliment the transition game and Nellie's teams have always loved the three so having an inside pressence to stretch the floor would be good. As far as Monta I would like to see him at the point as he could develop into an Arenas type player but your right in saying he's more of a SG naturally.
