Can Boston Repeat?

Can the Boston Celtics repeat? They have the main part of the team intact, but they lost James Posey to New Orleans. Rajon Rondo and Glen Davis are only going to get better, while Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen will likely keep producing. J.R. Giddens has a chance to immediately impact the Celtics. I think number 18 is coming this year.

It's possible for them to have repeat but i doubt that it will happen...I love Boston i really do but I think they have some serious threats from other teams. Of course Boston will be the number 1 seed in east but with teams like Philly, the Lakers, Warriors, and Portland, and a few others who have made major off season moves ( for the better) I think that Boston as a less chance at winning it again.

I see another Lakers and Celtic finals. However I dont see the same result. Those three players were hungry for that title last year. Next year those Laker players will be seeking revenge when their fully healthy. I'm not trying to hate but no team in the league stands up to a healthy Laker team.

Yes, they can repeat but it will be difficult. every team in the East is going to be improved and the Atlantic has gotten way better. A lot will depend on luck and staying away from injuries. Also they will have to recapture that hunger they had last season. Now they have their championship, they will have to work hard to recapture that desire that they had last season.

I dont know why any of you Celtic fans havent read the quote I posted about what PP said.

I agree with FLCeltsFan. They have the team but they have to stay healthy and hungry. It's so hard to repeat in any sport.

It will all come down to that unique ability to gear up the Title team type Defense......BOS had it for 08'...Posey FA loss hurts...Tony Allen can play the mean D on the perimeter above-average, and it's good to have the core intact...good to speculate, as improvement has occurred League-wide...yet, KG is rare as Team D leader-i.e. nutty...and team seasoned, and versatile...yeah, I see a LA-BOS rematch with an unknown result...like Giddens, and a six foul backup 7-footer to go against Bynum and foul clean and physical...can't wait, good thread

they couldn't have done it in the first place without Posey, that is my opinion.

hte lakers get bynum back, and the chances of them making the finals again are pretty high, so if boston is to win a championship, they have to by kobe and bynum first, its gonna be fun to watch next year AND the eastern conference is A LOT stronger than last year

I agree w britt. I'm a lakers fan n I would love to have another Boston-LA rematch cuz it would a very entertaining series to watch but w a different results especially w bynum comin back healthy n LA is goin to make some moves here that would improve the roster before the season. Anyone hear PP say he was better than Kobe?! I couldn't stop lmao after hearing it.

celtics better watch out for the 76ers this year. Think about it the sixers have more depth on their team now their lineup is one of the best Samuel Dalembert is way better Perkins and dont say he isnt just look at the numbers. Andre Miller can lead a team better than Rondo and everybody knows that but rondo will be a great player in the future but so will lou williams who is only going to be 22. And the sixers have thaddeus young who is only 20 the celtics dont really have young great players on the bench like the sixers. And i am pretty sure alot of you celtics fans know reggie evans who just dominated the celtics with the rebounds. And of coarse we have the two all stars andre iguodala and elton brand so celtics just better watch cuz the sixers could give the celtics a good battle for first place in the east

The Celts have a chance, because the East seems to be toss up this year.
A young and inexpierenced bench will hurt the Celts, because im not sold on Tony Allen, Big Baby, and O'Bryant.
Ray Allen will not be able to do his thang on a nightly basis, and Rondo needs to step up and be consistent on a nightly basis as well. Another thing to look for this season is how the players will react to being a champion. What made them so great was there hunger and desire to win the big one. Will they have there hunger back, or be hungover from last season.

The celtics are going to have to rely on a young and inexperienced bench this season. Posey will be greatly missed and PJ Brown will not last the whole season. Ray Allen will not be able to do his thang on a nightly basis, which makes the Celtics weak from the 3 point line. Im not sold on the young ones (T. Allen, O'Bryant, or Big Baby). However, the still have a shot because the east looks like a toss up this year.

A wise basketball player once said "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!" - KEVIN GARNETT

Im telling you all right now. Hornets are going to surprise you all once again. In my mind this is going to be Kobe's last season at a chance for a title. He is going to try harder then ever. Bynum will be a threat, but I dont think he will be that large of a threat.

Portland, oh god I wish I could honestly say that I think the Blazers could make it to the western conference finals, but I simply cannot say that yet.

But here is my west lineup to get to the finals.
Lakers
New Orleans
Utah
Portland (The blazers beat all of these teams this year numerous times, troutlaw can shut down Kobe, and the only guy that can guard Brandon Roy is Bruce Bowen, he toys with Kobe, their is always a chance.)

Lineup for the East:
Celtics
Sixers
Wizards
Cleveland

I predict that the Celtics will do it again, they cant do without a guy like posey though. They need a banger that can get points and get open. Rajon will be much improved, Perkins will as well.

Celtics will repeat. Unless Greg Oden combines his powers like captain planet. My guys are so damn scary in the talent field that I cant even comprehend what is going to happen. Its scary. But I dont want to get my hopes up.

nice lineup for the east but like i said before dont count those sixers short of those celtics

I always want to make predictions on teams in the off season but I think I am going to start curbing that feeling. So many teams have great players playing on them, but sometimes they just dont gel. I love the sixers lineup now, love it, but look at the Denver, Heat, Suns, they have all had success on some form of plateau, but nothing huge, nothing you would expect from the talent those teams have.

This is why I am going to stop making statistical predictions for the Blazers, so much great talent, so many great personalities, but sometimes they dont always gel. So until I see the Sixers, Blazers and everyone else in the pre-season I will refrain from making predictions.

I know I will break that promise.

The blazers have great young talent and should become a nba champion contender in the next few years
Oden
Roy
Aldridge
They got their own BIG 3 GOING ON the lakers better watch out and all of those other teams. Over the years to come

the problem with the celts before was that they didnt have any experience, now they do and yall are STILL counting them out? wtf...

Yes indeed the Celtics will repeat. They are hungry and will remain that way. Winning One was great but winning another would be even better. They will show and prove to all the haters out there who are having doubts about us winning another banner. Just because others may have gotten their team together by getting new players, really doesnt mean anything. They aint got nuttin on the Celts baby.
To all my Boston Fans, I smell a 2008-09 victory in the air.
To all haters of Boston, Lay Low, Fall back and get ready for this ride and please dont hop on the badwagon once banner 18 is flying high above the sky.
