It wasn't all too long ago that the Cavaliers were hot on the trail of former Ohio State star Michael Redd. After a little deliberation, Redd decided that he would like to stay in Milwaukee, where he could knock down consistent 20-point games...

  • i think this would be bad news for the Cavs...they don't need a prolific shooter...they need someone who can create for teammates...bad idea
  • I think that getting michael Redd, or Jermaine O'Neal, or even Ben Gordan would bring the cavs a long awaited champonship. I've heard others talk about Jaminson and A.I., get real. Jaminson will stay with washington because when washington is healthy, watch out. and A.I. just look at the situation in Denver(A.I. and Anthony), A.I. needs to be alone. To get two of those three mentioned would be a good start for the cavs.
  • They already have like 5 shooting guards. Spank is right, they need someone who can create other than LeBron.
  • How about A.I
  • can you imagine if the cavs still had boozer? lebron-booze-big Z = most badass frontcourt ever!
  • Shameless self-promotion... my take on the Redd to Cleveland rumors.

This would be a no-brainer for the Cavs if they could pull it off, but I don't think they have the pieces.
  • They had Larry Hughes who was huge in Washington, didn't work out either. They have to get a creator and new role players who actually hit shots. In this years series against Boston there were times like towards the end of game seven I thought: "He must feel so alone." The players who are sorrounding him are way too inconsistent. If the Cavs want a championship they're going to need a star - no superstar - but a guy like Gasol. Well, actually they need to refit the whole team, if you want a championship you got to have players off the bench, who would be considered as starters in a team who are not contending for the title - like a James Posey.

Bottom line: If they can get Redd they should take him, but they still need other players.
  • James Posey isn't the best example but you also need players off the bench who still want to become starters - while they are having these limited minutes they're going to play their hearts out. Vujacic is huge off the bench with his 3's and stepping up his defense lately. It seems to me that Ben Wallace doesn't care any more, he has his ring, his contract and that is it - these players are the worst for a team. Probably it's because he doesn't see a future with the Cavs for winning a title again. Maybe I'm just wrong and have a wrong impression.
  • you cant just have 4 spot up shooter and lebron, u need some1 to create alongside with lebron. the way i see it is you trade for redd and trade him to the warriors who can sign a trade baron davis and send him to the cavs in exchange for redd. i think the cavs might have to throw in a draft pick but if the warriors front office cant get baron to stay, i see it as a possibility. baron would be perfect in creating easy shops for lebron and taking some of the scoring load away from the king, He would also be a better fit than AI who is a great player but not reallly the distubutor that the cavs need.
  • Redd isn't just a spot up shooter. He has improved his ability to penetrate and create opportunities for himself and his teammates. It's true that he's a better shooter than penetrator, but he can take guys off the dribble from time to time.
  • i seeee him as a younger ray allen. u have a good point that he can take it to the rack and a improved inside score but playmaker he is not. he avg. 's 2 assist per game in his career.
  • They were "eyeing" him in the past...what has changed that would make it happen this time????
  • I dont understand why cavs management is acting like this rocket science.... LEBRON JAMES NEEDS A REAL POINT GUARD! Delonte's good but i mean like an allstar point guard....someone like parker, nash, paul, williams, even andre miller would be a great fit
  • u make it seem like there are alot of teams just willing to give up their franchise pg..

  • o like all the other spot up shooters that are there to bust threes for lebron. all they have is spot up at EVERY postion. Yes he would be an upgrade but it wouldnt change anything. Daniel Gibson=Spot up shooter. Wally= spot up shooter. Big Z= spot up shooter. the only one who isnt is big ben who quite frankly is nothing without the pistons supporting cast. Basing ur whole supporting cast on being spot up shooters is stupid because shooting for anyone is inconsistent, but drving to the basket, getting fouls, dunks and layups will be consistently there game after game and thats what they need. a consistent scorer.
  • PG-D West
    SG-Redd
    C-J O neal
    PF-Big Ben
    SF-King James
    hope sooo...
  • In response to dubsfan, I must say that michael redd would be a terrific addition to the cavs. one thing that redd can do is score and create his own shot. He doesnt average 23 pts a game for nothing. that would take a huge amount of pressure off lebron. also the cavs would have to give up a couple of guards in order to get redd so its not like we would be overloaded with them. with redd i think the cavs can win the east, but not the finals until they get a true low post threat.

Chad Ford is still an idiot

I really need to stop reporting on real events and just make up rumors like the Chad-ster. The Cavs trade half their team for the shell of a man that used to be Jermaine O'Neal? Yikes.

Head coaching vacancy still unfilled

The Chicago Bulls head coaching spot is still unfilled. There are several options though, some including former NBA players Jeff Hornacek and Eric Snow.

Cavalier Fun With the Trade Machine

A few deals that have been discussed are just not possible on the old Trade Machine. For instance, I figured that the best possible solution for the Cavaliers and Bulls would be for the Cavs to trade Eric Snow to Chicago where he would be a player coach.

Redd to Cleveland?

The Racine Journal-Times is reporting that the Bucks have been "gauging the interest" that other teams have in Michael Redd. There's a new sheriff in town (GM John Hammond) and he'll want to reshape the team. The Bucks have some talent, but clearly there wasn't much chemistry there and changes have to be made. Keep in mind that Hammond comes from Detroit, where...
